September 10, 200619 yr Rotorrick, Firstly, you will *LOVE* the default 206 which is what I've been flying almost exclusively now. As far as the missions, within the beta there are 52 missions including 12 Tutorial Missions teaching the basics of all the types of aircraft. Building missions use an IN-GAME tool called the Object Placement Tool that needs to be enabled in a cfg file and can be accessed from a Tool Menu within FSX. Once it's active, it's up to a persons imagination to set check points/areas to get to etc.. The tool is VERY easy to a person like me who's been programming one language or another on and off over 25 years and is simple enough to pick up and understand for the lay person. The missions are built by adding an action/trigger/location etc. then creating models/sound files to be placed within/along the mission. We will be inundated with missions from payware to freeware but it sure will be fun to have a way to see the whole world!
September 10, 200619 yr Just out of curiosity whatever happened to the oil rig fire rescue mission that was shown in early videos? I was looking for it but couldnt find it in the beta. Has it been dropped for some reason?
September 10, 200619 yr I agree, the missions are awesome. I just finished the Yakutat mail run, and lemme tell ya, that thing aint easy. I managed to get it on the first try though. Talk about sweaty palms. I think that one is the hardest one.
September 10, 200619 yr Yes!That one is tough! The first attempt was a failure, but the second time I made it!Descending to the airport without any reference at all + everything else that happens during the last minutes was really challenging! How many of those green circles around Seattle do I have to pass through to fulfill the mission? All of them or are the majority enough? Do I have to land at BFI before the time runs out or can I make the landing afterwards?I haven't been able to sort that out yet!And it's lucky for me to be able to use the save function even in the missions. Then I don't have to start all over again! Besides, some missions will take longer than those dreadful 30 minutes!Haraldh

I won't ever forget Hal9000 biting it in that mission...As for Jet City, there are a bunch of required targets and several optional targets. The mission compass indicates which are which. All of the required targets must be flown through before landing back at BFI. Once you have flown through all of the required targets the voice over dialog will prompt you to return to BFI. BTW, don't trust your save game in this mission, as it may cheat you a bit... (sorry).
September 10, 200619 yr >Just out of curiosity whatever happened to the oil rig fire>rescue mission that was shown in early videos? I was looking>for it but couldnt find it in the beta. Has it been dropped>for some reason?Oil Rig Transport should be in the list near the very bottom.
September 10, 200619 yr The required targets, are they those which are pointed out by that high green post? (The first one seems to be under a bridge?)No, I will not use the save function there (over Seattle), because it's belongs to the group of short flights (< 30 min)!My intention was, that I could fly even the missions in the beta taking a rather long time by saving them every 30 minutes! Sorry, if I wasn't clear on this! (English is not my mother's tongue!).Those missions are lovely, by the way!Haraldh
September 11, 200619 yr >The required targets, are they those which are pointed out by>that high green post? (The first one seems to be under a>bridge?)The "high green post" is pointing to the same thing as the mission compass which is the gauge in the top left corner of your screen. On that gauge there is text which says what it is pointing to. If it says "required" then it is one of the ones you need to fly through. I'm pretty sure the one under the bridge is optional.BTW, you can hide the green post by pressing the U key. Press it again and the mission compass will be hidden. One more press and they will both come back.
September 11, 200619 yr I agree with all - the missions are a hoot! I managed to complete Jet City and fly through every target, then land. As long as you get a couple of targets each pass across the city, there is plenty of time to complete it. Oh, and for a couple of targets close to objects (bridges, buildings, causeway), try coming at them from a different angle. One of the bridge ones goes much better if you go the direction of the bridge, not the water.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
September 11, 200619 yr Thanks to both of you! Now I know how it shold be!I have given the Jet City several attempts, but I will not be defeated yet even if it seems as if something evil is reigning over that downtown area! But that is probably just on my PC! :-)Maybe it depends on who is handling the joystick.......?You never know!Haraldh
September 11, 200619 yr Besides, when I fly in the downtown area in Jet City, the fps are about half of what they are when I take the Lear on the same ride in free flights! Some 10 or less in the mission - around 20 or better in the free flight!Maybe I have to make a special slider setting for this mission? This affects of course the ability to make all the turns needed for this mission!Haraldh
September 11, 200619 yr Hi,It sounds like you are haveing lots of fun with FSX! Could you let us know what your system specifications are?
