>>Yet no response yet.;( >>Perhaps those that have been chosen have been told but won't>(or can't) say anything.>Anybody heard anything yet?:-)

Nothing heard here. I may be unlucky cos I subscribed to this beta today via a direct link to the page, it was still available via direct link at 1100 GMT.It was the only way to get to the page cos its no longer on FS Planets home page as stated earlier and I couldnt see it on the Founders club page. Fingers crossed tho cos I want to find them nasty bugs ;)Cheers n beersIan

Yeah, I signed up today via the direct link page. I am hoping that my flight experience and significant simulator experience will help ensure I get to test it out. I really dont want it early (there is some truth to that!!) I have never been a beta tester before and the opportunity that is offered to point out bugs and glitches is one that I would love to have. I have always tried to find the bugs in gold releases and have found many. I just want the opportunity to actually make my findings count for once.

You guys need to relax. We will probably all be picked. It's not as if the messages are being sent out by actual people. A computer system will be sending them out at about the same time that the demo is released (at least that's my theory).

I can't wait to see how many people bust right through that wall :(That being said, I still expect the forum to explode tonight just because of the demo. Most of it, unfortunately being hardware stuff :(

>>As far as I know it is the full thing--12GB worth.>>I sure hope your wrong about that. For 3 reasons>>1) Last I checked I'm only allowed 10Gig of downloads a month>and that's on the 2nd costliest plan available to me here in>Aus ($70 a month). Mind you I think we get pretty bad deals>internet wise here in Aus compared to the rest of the world. >>2) Much to my frustration File planet took 12 hours to down>load the 1.6 Gig "company of heroes" demo despite me being a>paid subscriber My cable provider can easily download at>1Mbit/sec but fileplanet was downloading at 50K to 10K. So a>12 Gig FSX demo will take around 144 hrs straight to download>i.e. 6 continuous full days of downloading (irrespective of>what your connection is; the bottleneck is fileplanet which>from my experience doesn't do much more than 100k at the best>of times even for subscribers). Seems the only real advantage>of being a subscriber at fileplanet is the no waiting time ->the download speed is no faster from my experience.>>3) After waiting 12hrs to download 1.6 Gig "company of heroes">from fileplanet the file turned out to be corrupted and I will>have to download again (tried three zip file repairers but>none could recover all of it). If that's the error rate with a>1.6 Gig file I don't like the chances of downloading a 12Gig>file error free.>>Bottom line is if MS tries serving us a 12Gig file via file>planet they won't get much feed back because not many people>will have it working before the full version comes out. >>I'm willing to bet thought that the file planet people are>saner than to try serving out a 12Gig demo file, at least I'm>hoping.>>Don't get me wrong I can't wait for the 12Gig version but it>ain't much use to us if we can't play it. Really 12 Gig is>best left for the DVDs.Well done Microsoft (or perhaps File Planet?) you have addressed the concerns I listed here (not that you probably read this post).By releasing an 8.4 G file instead of 12G I can now download (at full speed) within my monthly 10Gig data allowance. What is more because you released the beta on the 31st I can down load half of it on the 31st and the other half on the 1st Sep thus not eating up too much of my allowance for next month either. By providing the option to download in chunks you make it easier to redownload should an error in transmission occur I don't have to download 9 Gig again just 2Gig. I'm even getting a halfway decent (or at least do-able) download speed from file planet for a change (170K).12hrs time and I should have the beta Good job Microsoft and/or File Planet(Can we talk about the closed beta?..well I haven't signed any non disclsure agreements as yet and others are so I assume its OK to note here the fact that its on).
