August 24, 200619 yr Paul Lange has updated his blog with a enhancement list for FSX, looks great.http://blogs.technet.com/p-12c_pilot/archi.../23/449230.aspx

August 24, 200619 yr "I'm sure the whiners of the FS community will pick each and every one of these new systems and models apart and complain that we didn't go far enough with each, or got something wrong, but the truth is that adding and expanding the capabilities of the simulation will make it easier and more flexible for the community to build upon and add onto the platform we are building whether you like our specific implementation or not.I personally am very proud of what the simulation team and the greater FSX team has been able to accomplish in this version."Very, very well said.Regards,
August 24, 200619 yr Yeah, sad to see that MS is catering so much to the gamers with stuff that hardcore simmers could care less about, like flaperons and retractable tip-floats :-rollMaybe someday ACES will release a version of FS that the "hardcore" crowd is happy with. :-hahNah. Never happen. But I for one am very interested in what will be able to be done with the new abilities to model APUs and fire suppression. That alone will add a lot of new function to the commercial models.-Ivan
August 24, 200619 yr Gliders perhaps. From wikopediaSome gliders not only use flaps when landing but also in flight to optimize the camber of the wing for the chosen speed. At lower speeds when thermalling, positive flap is used, i.e., flaps are lowered. At higher speeds a negative flap setting is used, i.e. the flaps are raised. Negative flap is also used during the initial stage of an aerotow launch and at the end of the landing run in order to maintain better control by the ailerons.
August 24, 200619 yr >"Negative flaps" - huh?Yeah I can't wait. They had to add this feature because the default maule uses them to get better cuise speeds. Chris Miller
August 24, 200619 yr >"Negative flaps" - huh?I thought he was still describing the forum at that point. :(
August 24, 200619 yr "Yeah, sad to see that MS is catering so much to the gamers with stuff that hardcore simmers could care less about, like flaperons and retractable tip-floats"Ummmmm.... The average person wouldn't even know what flaperons are. It seems to me that those features will allow developers to make even more realistic aircraft.
August 24, 200619 yr That was tongue-in-cheek, JC. :9 Perhaps I used the wrong smiley. I'm rather happy to see the GA crowd get such a big enhancement to the sim.
August 24, 200619 yr Ah, sorry. :-beerchug It's what I get for reading a post once, then replying without rereading it. Oh well. :-)
August 25, 200619 yr Author Would they list something small and silly but important as the friction coefficient?Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for...argo_hauler.gifhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg Michael J.
