Suggestions to improve FSX Fps

Featured Replies

LeifApex - a reinstall is just a waste of your time.  Follow others' suggestions.  Your computer is not capable of running FSX with maximum settings so you will need to turn off or down a lot of settings.

Trubshaw - FSX was never optimized for graphic cards.  CPUs are the key.  Go for a nVidia GTX 960 or up.  The 1080 and 2080 cards are unnecessary and overkill.

Sim: Prepar3D 5.2 (main) and Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020), CH Eclipse Yoke, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA Side Stick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Pedals, Saitek Cessna trim wheel, TrackIR 5, SPAD.neXt running 3 Saitek Logitech panels, ButtKicker Gamer 2, Razer Naga Chroma gaming mouse

System: Intel i5-10600K CPU @ 4.10 GHz, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, 64GB DDR4 RAM @ 4200 MHz, ASRock Z490M Pro4, 2TB Intel NVMe SSD 660p, 3 monitors

Have you tried any of my suggestions, or the .cfg guide?

“A couple of things....turn off lens flare and light bloom.  Turn off all aircraft shadows.  Set water to low2s.  Turn off aicrasft labels.  Try autogen max right and scenery complexity to full right.”

Charliearon, i’ve tried both, but i thought scenery complexity and autogen caused FPS loss, not fix it?

Correct.  The more Autogen and the higher the Scenery Complexity, the more data your CPU must process.  I'd start with both sliders set to the left, then slowly increase them until performance suffers.

Without autogen and Scenery complexity, all cities and airports will look like deserted deserts.  Without Scenery complexity maxed out airports may have jetways but not buildings.  It's a tradeoff.  Look for smoothness, not fps.

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!
