January 3, 20197 yr Hi: I am rapidly running out of space on my internal SSD that I have been using for XP11...Can anyone recommend an external SSD that would be fast enough (and large enough!) for XP11? Thanks a lot! Steve 7 Miles NW of KGCK
January 3, 20197 yr I think that an external SSD will be slower than an internal SSD. Try to add an internal SSD if your rig allows to. January 3, 20197 yr An external ssd would be fine for this use case. Make sure it has a USB 3.0 or 3.1 connection. I would stick with the Samsung's they tend to have the best performance and reliability. January 4, 20197 yr I run my entire X-Plane installation from an external Samsung T5 (512 GB), so that I can use it on both my desktop and laptop PCs. Loading speeds are fine and I'm not seeing much stutter when loading new tiles in flight, despite running HD mesh. January 4, 20197 yr I use an external 4tb usb drive for my scenery. Works a dream. Stephen Simpson Systems: Flight System: AMDRyzen7 7800X3D, 32GB DDR, RTX4090,Windows 11. Utilities System: I7 8700K 4.8Ghz,32GB 3000 DDR4 RAM,1x1TB SSD,Geforce GTX1080ti 11GB,Windows 11.
