August 16, 200619 yr Mike,You mentioned somewhere that new code is checked in all the time.I'm of course assuming that this code is improved in some way - bug fixes or the like.I have no idea how this code was incorporated into the current Demo version. My question is: Will it be possible to release another Demo version with improved code and some of the bug fixes that have already been identified?RegardsMark
August 16, 200619 yr Yeah - I'd LOVE to have a new demo edition based on newer, more mature code, but I think the others are right.Creating the demo isn't a matter of just dropping in the newly minted code... it takes some programming of the demo on its own. The new builds would have to be integrated into the demo, run through some basic tests, and then re-released. I imagine that there is more "by-hand" work needed to be done to get the demo prepped and ready than we know, and chances are they only alloted enough time to do the demo once. I'd love to be wrong, but I think the next release from ACES will be the simulator itself!-Greg
August 16, 200619 yr Oooh good. Which thread was that then? Actually a patch for the existing demo would be good in my opinion and would be a smaller download probably. If Microsoft can get some of the demo's bugs ironed out we'll have a much better idea of FSX's impact on our current systems. I'm quite happy with how it works now on my computer, I can't run it with all the sliders to the far right but it gives me something to look forward to when I get a new computer in a couple of years.Chris
August 16, 200619 yr I think they said they would release a new demo later but am I the onlyone who has noticed that some problems have disappeared? I haven't seena single 'black square texture problem' in days and the whole sim seemsto be more stable the more I fly. maybe they're downloading fixes onthe fly?I hope they fix the rain reflection problems soon. Flashing water isnot good for epileptics - ha! (luckily, flashing doesnt affect me that much) | Dave | I've been around for most of my life. August 16, 200619 yr An updated demo is not out of the question but we're not going to take time out to work on it until the finished product is wrapped up. I'm sure you'd all prefer we do it that way. :)
