Hello to all,

I really hope that anyone of you have knowings about the VRinsight CDU.

I already know that VRinsight don't support their hardware anymore ... sad. But does maybe anyone of you know how to "config" the CDU?

It works, my FCU works fine as well but I want/need more aircrafts. At the moment does only the PMDG 737/777 works.

Are there any Links or something else out there?

Thanks and Regards

Hi Justin,

I don't have experience on using the CDUIII.

I've using the CDUII version without problems, but it's not an easy task.

You should check the FSUIPC manual to check the mouse macro's creation and then you can convert any clic on P3D windows to a keypress.

Once you have the clicks converted to keys, then you can make a new profile to setup the CDU via the Vrinsight software.

It's a very consuming time and try-error-try setup, but it's working for  me.

I'm using the FSLABS, PMDG 737, Maddog, Dash8 and 717.

Best regards!

Hello @Ekim,

word not allowed it, I mean the CDU II. However the manuel said "III".

Thanks for your fast answer. It really sounds complicated. I'll try it but I think it will not work anymore for me...

Well, I know now how to get the macros work. And now?

It's so complicated. 😞 How can I create Key Commands in FSUIPC?

I only can select one Key but I need a whole combi of them...

Hi Justin! I have a lot of complicated key combos like ctrl+shift+F1 via FSUIPC Keypresses menu.

Remember those keys combinations can't be used in P3D.

Hey @Ekim,

alright, I make some to try it! 🙂 Should I maybe click it to "aircraft specific" in FSUIPC?

I saved the Keymap and now? How does VRInsight know which aircraft I configurated?! The PDF of VRI ends right there...

Do you also have the new NGXU? When i undock the FMC the FMC frame is still intact.

The keyboard works as I have linked to the NGX. keymap in the ini.

So how did you remove the frame around each FMC/FMS*

Thanks Michael Moe

Good day Michael!

I still have not tryied the new NGXU.

If i recall correctly you should find the panel.cfg and look for:

Quote

// CDU (Left)
//
[Window01]
BACKGROUND_COLOR=30,30,30
size_mm=385,600
window_size=0.18047, 0.5
position=8
visible=0
ident=401
zorder=99

gauge00=PMDG_737NGXu!CDU, 0,0,385,600,L #0

Try the bold numbers with negative values.

This week i will try to modify, will report here!

Thanks for the info.  Will look at the NGX panel.cfg and check the values in bold.

Thanks

Hi Michael,

                 I am trying to get the CDU working for my PMDG NGXu, it looks like you have found a solution which doesnt involve setting up macros in FSUIPC for each button by somehow configuring the original 737NGX keymap.  Could you help as I dont know how you link the original NGX keymap to the new NGXu?

Many Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Cheers

I use LINDA. There is a profile that you can download that has by default everything mapped   https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/341971-pmdg-737-ngx-module-414-nov-2019/?tab=comments#comment-2044896

Hi  Dave. Yeah it was pretty simpel.

In the VR infight folder including the bin folder there is an .ini file

Cant remember if its CDU.ini .not at my pc.

You just point the keymap.dll to your NGXU in the same way as done with the NGX.

Also add the folders under Aircraft like the NGX with panel.cfg.

I manage to open the VR insight software and now have NGXU (P3DV4) as a selection.

Remember to backup your panel.cfg for the ngxu in case it doesnt work for you.

If you can wait I can e-mail my files so you can find the solution tomorrow.

Also CDU_Screen instead of CDU is working great on my pc in the panel.cfg (window 01)

It has changed from the NGX(Window 02) to the NGXU(window01)

So its pretty basic of what to do . Make a backup of your original panel.cfg

This is on your own risk as its not supported by VRinsight so its just for personally interest.

Hopefully all understand this

Make a backup of your original panel.cfg

1. Make a folder : like this

cdu-aircraft-folder.jpg

2: make a panel.cfg like this and put inside the folder Panel (take the panel cfg from the VRinsight/Aircraft/NGX folder and edit )

panel.jpg

3: Edit the CDU II ini file (the section starting with WIN_X should be left blank as its my location of the screen ) Win_X = (leave it blank) etc etc etc

cdu2ini-part-one.jpg

CDU2-INI-PART-TWO.jpg

4: run install_Panel.exe

install-panel.jpg

5: install panel to simulator

install-panel-to-sim.jpg

6: run VR insight

VRINSIGHT-SOFTWARE.jpg

Undock the CDU Screen and move it to your location and fine tune with the VRinsight software like normal

Michael you are a Legend my friend!!

Thank you so much for the guide you provided.  It worked a treat.  I had a few hiccups along the way which were purely self inflicted so it took me a little longer to get running but it now works flawlessly.  The CDU_Screeen edit also works perfectly too.

One thing to add for any CDU III user is that you need to do exactly the same in the CDU III config file as you do in the CDU II config file otherwise it wont find your aircraft.  Other than that Michales guide is perfect.

Many many Thanks Michael
