August 11, 200619 yr I get about 12-15fps with everything maxed. AA is set at 2x on card. Aircraft labels is off. Weather fair on Microlight. Resolution makes little difference. Regards Howard H D Isaacs
August 11, 200619 yr May I ask for a favour K. Frederiksen? I am intending on buying the same spec PC in October for the same reasons you bought it. Can you make a note in your diary, when the game is released to fly LHR with clouds and full everything (traffic, graphics etc.) and tell us the frame rates you are getting? Thank you,E
August 11, 200619 yr Author My old PC (listed in sig) bit the dust a couple of weeks ago and I need a new build myself, hence the interest in this thread.I was considering an AM2 X2 4600+ / 5000+ with the price drops, but they are both as rare as rocking horse doo-doo around here right now. After trying to interpolate the results from FPS benchamrks, I am now going towards Core 2 Duo. Either the E6400 or the E6600 depending on how much I spend on a motherboard. I can get an E6400 pretty easily, but again the E6600's are as rare as the X2's I mentioned.I know that FS series is ALWAYS cpu dependant, so I was keen to find out how the demo is running on X2's and Core 2 Duo.I am 'expecting' that the Core 2 Duo will perform better in FSX than a comparable X2 because it appears to handle 'number crunching' tasks better than the X2's.Can't wait to see the results......Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
August 11, 200619 yr >Tdragger says it basically doesn't do much. Don't expect>miracles. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Be careful when it comes to quoting on specific hardware questions. Duo core, apple core--it's mostly all the same to me. ;)
August 11, 200619 yr Hopefully i will get my hands on the beta, so i can do it before the final release.LHR= London Heathrow right?

Of course, this has also boosted the price some from what was announced. Newegg is saying they'll have more E6600s in on the 14th.One important thing about E6400/E6600. The 6400 only has the 2MB cache (I never thought I'd be saying "only" a 2MB cache) whereas the the 6600 and up are a 4MB cache, which can make a big difference.>>I know that FS series is ALWAYS cpu dependant, so I was keen>to find out how the demo is running on X2's and Core 2 Duo.>>I am 'expecting' that the Core 2 Duo will perform better in>FSX than a comparable X2 because it appears to handle 'number>crunching' tasks better than the X2's.>>Can't wait to see the results......>>GlennAccording to a few people, it is certainly doing well. I can't wait either, hopefully I'll get my rig not much after the beta comes around.

Duo core, apple core--it's mostly>all the same to me. ;)Maybe this is another cryptic comment inferring that FSX will run pretty much the same on all of the 'newer' dual core processors regardless of Intel or AMD origin?Care to comment some more Mike? August 11, 200619 yr The P5B (the non-deluxe)seems to have inferior northbridge, and 'parts around the socket' cooling, and that may become an issue for you if you intend serious overclocking.Thats the reason i chose the deluxe, and not because of the wifi, that is disabled anyway on my system.

I can oveclock the crap out of the E6400 and save some cash. Here in Canada it's $125-150 more for the E6600 plus the ultra long wait to get one. Also, I'm trying to build a system that will last. I don't want to be upgrading my mobo until absolutely necessary after this one.
August 11, 200619 yr >I guess the real question is: Do you consider it worth the>extra hundred bucks?>I did, but im a hardware nerd. I can't help myself.
