Delta Emergency

Featured Replies

Happy to see the flight landed safely - Delta Emergency. Caused by heavy turbulence over California. I heard the winds in California were going to be well in the 100's (via Accuweather but cannot find this information on the web; there are warnings but 70 mph winds are the highest). Still it may explain why I suddenly had warnings of overspeed when flying the CS757 from KLAX to KSFO yesterday with ASP4.  At first I thought I had done something wrong but obviously got a huge tail wind pushing me forward even faster.  Landed safely at KSFO...

That is amazing.  Had not seen this.  Obviously the Pilot forgot about the app and the NTSB will make that the reason for the emergency landing.  LOL

Exactly! Pride comes before a fall indeed.... I'm just so glad there's not a windshear or God forbid an engine out app yet! LOL indeed...

I was up over Florida last night and there were several reports of severe turbulence on the radio in the upper 20 flight levels. The tone of voice  of the guys making the reports sounded like they were really uncomfortable so it was enough for me to tell the cabin crew to suspend their meal service in anticipation. ATC were asking anyone in severe turbulence with injuries on board to ident , so I suspect news of this delta incident had travelled through the ATC grapevine , possibly..

Good news indeed Jim! But... Didn't the new cool app from Delta for pilots stop all that turbulence thingy? Coz there's an app for everything these days, you know!

But this was a regional carrier, Compass I think- And we all know how well the pilots are treated on those.  Maybe they only qualify for a Demo version haha

Maybe even worse, they have to subscribe to the app like everything these days and their sub ran out mid-flight..I can just see the FO struggling to get his CC info accepted over a weak wifi signal while the pilot yells "for god's sake man hurry up I canna hold it she's breaking up!"
