Shared Skies Video released

Featured Replies

You found it first here on AVSIM. We have released the Shared Skies video from Microsoft today on the main page. Have a view of this very interesting video of FS X.

Well, it is an amusing video - but when you take the real life characters out, the Fsim part of the video wasn't that impressive (although the external model of the Caravan lookes good) .Barry

Is it the same video we have been watching the last couple of days available here? http://www.projectmagenta.com/video/SharedSkies.wmvI ask because the AVSIM download is very slow today. It has the same name, just want to verify. Thanks

Yes, it appears to be the same, but I am told that this version (on AVSIM) was compiled the night before the press event. So, I am confused as I am sure others are.

We already have VATSIM and such "shared" airspace things about. I just dont feature a lot of simmers "buddying up" to use this feature. I've "buddied" up through various online gaming programs only to be grandly disappointed by the rude behavior of others. I would rather Microsoft resources used to greatly improve air and ground ATC programming, but apparently this will not happen. The video is cute otherwise and fun to watch.Randy Jura, KPDX

I found it quite entertaining, waiting for the sequal.

I realy hope they improved the AI and ATC as you mentioned. The video was nice though and looked very good. The models are finally reflective and the most notable improvement is that the 737 cockpit actually looks rather good for a default bird! It just might make the changeover from default to payware a little easier for n00bs!

To be honest, I thought that was an FS9 video when I saw it a few days ago. I figured it was a hoax FSX vid. I am a little disappointed that it IS FSX - although I have to agree it was amuzing.

At least it displays a great sense of humour, I love the bit at the end when the pilot says to his CP "You do realise we're in a real plane..."That bit just cracked me right up.

It will be interesting to see if the protocols used for the new sharing capabilities are open and flexible. Could this be the foundation for third parties to develop alternative ATC plugins that can actually drive traffic, or WidevieW-like capabilites with syncronized traffic and weather? Fingers crossed...

Well done, well done MS!Ditopilot

They already can in FS9. Both Radar Contact V4 (.1 update) and Active Sky 6 will give AI planes directions.

That was quite funny. "Yeah, but this is more fun!"How many commercial pilots here come home to fly their favorite routes on their days off? It's amusing =)

Interesting stuff... It looks pretty promising for VATSIM (if the live ATC capability is built into the sim, I am guessing it could bring a much larger audience to the networks).
