June 21, 200619 yr Looked like it... though the racer was flailing around pretty good.The whole thing looks awfully nice! Especially the sky in the glider part.---Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
June 21, 200619 yr This clearly shows one welcome new feature. In spot view in most flight sims the aircraft look as if they are pinned to the centre of the screen, which is extremely unrealistic. In this video the aircraft move across the screen as they turn, which is considerably more realistic. However, the glider did not show this, so maybe this is an optional feature. Best regards, Chris
June 21, 200619 yr one thing i didnt like about the video was the water, it seems very much like FS9, hopefully if those images of the DX10 habour are correct then we should a complete overhaul of the water dynamics?
June 21, 200619 yr Author No, from this example, FSX clearly seems to render 3D images much more realistically. From watching it, I seemed to appreciate the speed at which the aircraft was moving over the runway, much more than in FS9. In addition, the buildings looked much more 3D-like. I got the impression that I was passing over more of a real building, which appeared much less cartoon-like than in FS9. I am guessing it is the new shading capabilities of FSX. From most of what I have seen, FSX shows definite improvements over FS9. I am definitely happy.Does anyone else agree with me?RH

Try to set a lower zoom factor in FS9 and you'll obtain the same results. :)Marco "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
June 22, 200619 yr did you guys see the GA parking? look at the tarmac during the turn between gates 1 and 2 (the second time around). the planes are parked tail-to-tail and "interlocked" a bit just like in real life, as opposed to having their own parking spots. BRAVO ACES! and the wing flex in the glider looks great, hopefully it's included in the heavies and other aircraft as well.
June 22, 200619 yr Author The zoom factor might play a part, but FSX definitely has more 3D detail to make it a definite improvement over FS9.RH
June 23, 200619 yr Is it me, but shouldn't the wing flex up when descending not flatten out? I don't know much about gliders, but wouldn't the added force of air push the wings up?I can see the wings unflexing when you have lost the thermal, but in the video it looked like he/she was trying to descend and the wings flattened out.
June 23, 200619 yr It seems counter intuitive, but it is correct. When you start a dive the angle of attack is temporarily reduced and lift is decreased. During this initial loss of lift the wings are unloaded and they kind of drop!
June 24, 200619 yr Anyone notice the reflections on the racer's wings? Incredible! I missed it the first time I watched it because I was too busy focusing on the course.

June 24, 200619 yr >Anyone notice the reflections on the racer's wings?>Incredible! I missed it the first time I watched it because I>was too busy focusing on the course. What gets me is the dynamic lighting which is evident on the fuselage and wings. Notice when the racer rolls or turns away from the sun that the surfaces get darker... really amazing look and not to mention that I was getting a little "car sick" during the racer segment. This is going to be a real hit folks! Looks like some overtime here for this boy so that he can buy a new system. It will be worth it though.Cheers, \Robert Hamlich/
