I was going to say, the mission depicted in the screenshot *is* reality based! ;)

I don't see any sign of grass. It's flat like fs9......

"there are now 24 million accurate roads and highways in the game."Just wondering how that compares to FS9.

>This is something you usually see at an airshow (US). It>might be an AI airshow, who knows - it might be a mission.>>I like the flames though - also seen on the drilling>platform.I like the flames too. I also love the way the smoke behind the truck looks. Maybe we can have engine flameouts and some real nice looking tire smoke when landing.I think I read somewhere something about condesation in fsx. I hope so maybe we can get some effects like this. http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0974746/L/

FS9 had 180,325 roads.

>I saw some soft shadows under the jets on the aircraft>carrier; I'm guessing they're part of the bitmap texture of>the carrier, but if not...>>(I know, conjecture, conjecture...)>>AndrewThey're just painted on. Cheers,Jason(Of course if you look carefully you might notice something else about the shadows on the carrier...)

Jason,We've all seen the nice improvements done in light reflecting from water, but I was wondering if these improvements also extend to the timing of that reflection? What I mean is, in FS9 for example the reflection of moonlight appears in water even before the moon comes up from beyond the horizon. It looks REALLY strange to see that "bridge of light" for a good hour or so before the moon makes its appearance :)

The big question is ..... why is that image hosted on a woman's beauty website?! :-lolIn all seriousness, these missions should appeal to a broad spectrum of people, rather than the hardcore users. It's got to be a good thing :).---------------------------------------"If it doesn't have a VC, I won't be flying it http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/DarrenA300/smug.gif" ... hang on a minute .... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v615/DarrenA300/unsure.gif ... that is too restrictive! Most flight simulator planes don't have a fully functional VC .... I'm happy to fly non-VC planes such as the brilliant iFDG range, Samdim's fantastic aircraft, POSKY's wonderful planes, and many many others! I'm the richer for it :).[/b]Advice for uploaders: please remove those horrible thumbs.db files - they are useless :)

and there are how many roads in the real world? :-lol

hmmm, suggestion for FS11...you know how when water reflects it can create strange 'wire type' patterns on objects? See the underside of the fuselage in the following link:http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0861450/L/any chance of that for an upcoming version of FS?i.e. water sunlight reflection on objects...http://www.toronto.ca/water/media_room/pho..._reflection.jpglike how this would look bounced off a solid object such as an aircraft fuselage

It's called 'caustics' and doing it realistically requires some pretty heavy processing. If needs to calculate the bends in transmitted and reflective light.I can't imagine that if this were ever implemented there would be much of a reason to do a realistic calculation; faking it's far easier. That said... except for shallow water, such as near a carribbean island, I don't see this as much of a benefit, even eye-candy wise.Andrew

Yeah faking it would be so much easier, an animated texture blend or something...Also for us pineapple tropical pacific and caribbean dwellers, lol, one day it'd be nice as it is pretty common around shallow coastal tropical areas ;) I'd say it's probably even possible now in FS9 if someone wanted to code an animated texture onto an aircraft they build and set an XML condition for it to display... I might take a shot at it one day...lol, part of my post was inspired by thinking about what will be possible in future versions of FS... Seeing as all the concepts I had have actually come to fruition in FSX (animated wildlife, extra world regions, animal AI or dynamic scenery tracks, wing vapor fx and I suspect XML dewpoint code), I need to come up with new ideas on how to push the boundaries in future versions of FS... I'm kidna into pushing the boundaries in fs addon concepts... ;)Actually with the new PS3 or XBox one of them has this type of modelling of light in it from what I have seen... From memory fluid the dynamics of a duck in a bathtub were amazing. Maybe in 2-5 years non console computer systems will be able to do it via hardware...What I am wondering about in FSX is whether or not the animated wildlife has 'boned' MDL's or if the animations are hand created... The biggest problem a friend and I had in trying to create an animated elephant for FS9 was the lack of being able to use bones to help animate the movements... Jason, is that information you guys can release or does it have to wait for the SDK's?
