FSX:SE Startup?

Featured Replies

How do you get FSX:SE to bypass the "HOME" screen and start in the "FREE FLIGHT" screen?

When I did that it went directly to the default flight.

I would like it to go to the "FREE FLIGHT" page.

Ah sorry.., settings > general >show opening screen

Be in free flight when you close FS down

That's the way I am doing it. But it still goes to the "HOME" page.

This is FSX:SE running on W7.

On my XP computer running an original FSX it works properly.

I am a bit confused as to what a "Free Flight" screen looks like.  The screen that shows your default aircraft and starting position is where I begin by choosing the aircraft and particular flight plan I want to fly.  Then I hit Fly Now!

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

If you don't mind playing with your fsx.cfg file, then you might try inserting this into it:

[STARTUP]
DEMO=0
SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=1
STARTUP_DEMO=
LoadWindow=1

Be sure to backup the original first and look for the [STARTUP] tag so that you don't end up with a duplicate.

I think "LoadWindows=1" is what you are looking for, but not positive.

  • 1 year later...

I have the same question, did anyone find a workaround for this?
