to see Cloud Shadows

Featured Replies

I think its already confirmed as being in FSX... in one of the E3 pics theres a picture of the graphics option dialog box, and theres a checkbox for "Cloud Shadows".Cloud shadows are fantastic because you get a real sense of altitude when you're flying above some scattered clouds and you can see their shadows. Also they help break up the patterned ground textures. This is one feature i am really looking forward to! :-jumpy

As pixelpoke said it is not in it yet but there will be cloud shadows which I personally am very excited about.:)

very interesting comment! Wonder what keeps you from investing time and money into a feature and then wonder about putting it in!!! Bugs? Performance issues? You need to keep some features for future series? You are just being mean to us? :)

Please, please ,please put in cloud shadows. FSX will look amazing.Even if 99% of users have to turn it off for performance reasons. In 12 months time the hardware will catch up. Please dont make us wait another 3 years for cloud shadows.:-jumpy

"Bugs? Performance issues?"You've answered your own question :)We try not to promise features that we aren't certain will be in the shipping product. In this case, cloud shadows are not in the product yet. We believe we have a method that'll work, but until it's in, it's not in.And yes, I want cloud shadows too. :)Cheers,Jason

I can see it now "I turned on the cloud shadows and my frames went to 5 FPS, WHY??!!" "I'm runing a celeron 1100 with a Geforce2 MX, I don't understand!!" "Obi Wan, you are my only hope!"Don't get me wrong, I want them as bad as the next person, but I can see it coming. ;-)Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International

Well, I hope that we can have it too. However, if it will cause considerable performance degradation with average systems (such as mine), I'd prefer that the team put their efforts in fligh dynamics and weather simulation.David

Check box to turn it off. With the progress of hardware in a year an "average" machine will be able to run it anyway.

I think its more problematic issues (bugs) than just performance!

>To be clear: we "hope" there will be cloud shadows in the>product. >>Cheers,>>JasonAs a happy paying customer, I wish even if it means delaying FSX, you get the shadows in. So what if we wait an extra 4-6 weeks, better than 3 years or more!

I'll be so disappointed if you can't include cloud shadows...That's one of the best up-grade you should add absolutly !Keep in mind that most of us are waiting for VISTA and DX10 release to buy a NEW computer with dualcore, at least 2 Mo RAM, 256 or 512Mo videocard... Is it not enough to manage cloud shadows ? I hope you will succeed in doing our dreams !... good luck !

The remaining 1.9999 million of us will keep our current equipment :-lol
