Tragger -- Is that something you can't comment on? Or, is that something you don't know. Or, is it a stupid question, or what?I know you can't comment on many FSX features, so I just wanted to find out about DX10 on a platform you can talk about.RH

He's pulling your leg. There is no way that 300 FPS would be exceeded in that scenario. At best, we're looking at a peak of no more that 288 FPS with some minor variation downward for the density of the elephant shadows and dolphin splashes. (Using SimFlyers scenery could cause even lower peak FPS values).Doug

No, really. We got 300+ FPS on the DX10 version of FS9 that we did last year in our spare time. But we didn't think anyone would want to buy it so we deleted in from our hard drives.

Then I stand corrected Mike. Too bad, though, that such a version didn't make it to the store shelves. With the new Vista-compatible neoplasmatic monitors coming out this summer those framerates would have been a really good match to the recommended 300-360Hz refresh rates. There would still have been a few months of possibly enhanced sales before the FSX release.Doug

Doug,he's joking...(he should have used a :-smooch icon)

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB

So am I :-) . Neoplasmatic monitor? 300-360Hz refresh? :-)Doug

Is this having to answer questions on avsim.com and other sites getting to be too much work? If you think it is a bad question, or you don't want to answer it, just skip it like you some of the others. No problem...RH

0. scroll back to DX7 or so.. with every new gen out there old games have no performance boost and new ones are designed to utilize new features effectively slowing down everything again. so i'll go with 0, and will be 10000000000000000000% correct in about 6-8 months.

That's kind of what I was thinking. If DirectX 10 does away with the prior code needed for < DirectX 10, then had FS2004 been written with a fresh DirectX code (such as DirectX 10) then we perhaps would have seen a much improved performance in terms of FPS (and smoothness or whatever) for FS2004.RH

Hi,I agree, but I have a slightly different thought. Even if there is a performance enhancement, people will turn on cloud shadows and drag the sliders right until they end up with the exact frame rate they had before - and then complain about it... :)Take care,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

So, you don't think DirectX 10 will have much of an affect on features like cloud shadows? To me, if the sliders are not all the way to the right, then you are playing with an incomplete flight simulator program. Hopefully, DirectX 10 will help lighten the load somewhat from the CPUs. Also, hopefully, the dual core setup will help as well by distributing the load to two CPUs, instead of one, to help with FPS.RH

RobbieHe, I know of a sure way to find out how much FS will be affected by DX10...just wait a few more months!!We all are anxious to see what will be different ;)

EXACTLY Robbie!!I can understand if some one has a less than current PC and have to compromise, but for those with a high end rig, you SHOULD be able to have all sliders maxed and get GOOD performance.I can't even fathom running FS with less than maxed sliders.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International

Wow 300+ FPS an that is just on the emulated software DX10! That would mean that when you finaly have DX10 hardware the performance increase will be stagering!!!By the way ever thought about working for the marketing department?
