July 22, 20196 yr Hi All, Following some other FSX issues, I did a full uninstall/reinstall of FSX. All worked well until I actually started a flight. Instead of the loading bar, all I saw was a black screen and my mouse (which I could move). I left it like that for about an hour with no results. any solutions? thanks, William Edited July 22, 20196 yr by WilliamS William Sandford Check out SwitchNowUnicom on Twitch! July 22, 20196 yr 1) Try hitting Alt+Enter at the b lack screen to switch to windowed mode. 2) Try unchecking DirectX 10 Preview Mode and see if that helps better than #1. When I hit Alt-Enter nothing happens. DX10 is already unchecked. Thanks, Will William Sandford Check out SwitchNowUnicom on Twitch! X-Plane 11i5-7300HQ @ 2.5GHz Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 2560x1440

July 23, 20196 yr But the question is, did you uninstall or delete? Did you uninstall by hitting an uninstall button, or did you go to the steam folder and start deleting things? If you deleted rather than uninstall (first) you may have registry problems. Uninstall FSX, then go to various folders and delete. Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.

July 24, 20196 yr There are a few things that seem to work to stop this...I just installed FSX:SE onto a new machine with a clean Win10 install, and saw the black screen thing for the first time (I always used boxed FSX in the past). 1. Enable DX10 preview in the fsx.cfg file. 2. If you don't want to use DX10, set windowed mode in the fsx.cfg file (Maximized=2) 3. Press the "Windows" key on the keyboard a couple of times to take and restore focus to FSX. The DX10 and windowed mode both seem to always work for me; the windows key is more hit and miss.
