August 26, 20196 yr Similar strange is the use of the imperial system for weights and measures. Besides the US, Liberia and Myanmar are the only countries who are using this system.

August 26, 20196 yr Oops, yes, you are correct. But, we use miles and mph on the roads. .NM and knots in the air and at sea. Edited August 26, 20196 yr by GHD

Could have prevented the incident at 1:49 had the United crew used proper phraseology and named names by confirming they were at 05/23 rather than referring to "the runways". Saying that, why the word not allowed did she clear the second aircraft off for t/o. That's complete lunacy. Will have to dig out the report out of interest now! Thanks for posting that, I'll keep that incident in mind for LVPs in future. These are my two. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1r3XZQc4Zo Cells bubble up in a matter of minutes. Airspace is designed with spacing in mind to accommodate radar vectors. Stop arguing with a crew trying to dodge a dangerous CB/TS and professionally get on with it instead of clogging up the radio at the end. In fairness it wasn't really on from the Aer Lingus crew to say "my boss with be in touch with yours." It's professional courtesy to give people a heads up if you have to ASR something but that wording was aggravating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnBWLGnrh5Q V1 cut. EFATO profile. Very very very busy. Following the EOSID. Declare Mayday then standby, controller asks if they are declaring an emergency. What do you think man? Repeatedly told to standby but keeps repeatedly badgering the crew with info. Lad lost his composure totally with that one. I know you guys use lbs a lot, what unit did you ask for it in? We use kg and the aircraft is refueled in kg but for some reason, probably to do with duty/tax on the fuel, we get given a figure in litres to record in the tech log.

We also usually use kg, but the fuel truck almost always provides liters so we (or the refueler) have to convert it to kg. TAL entries at my airlines are also done in kg. It's just the fuel bill which is in liters +kg. Btw, when flying into JFK I always had to think of this poor guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShdkQGGyBWg Edited August 27, 20196 yr by FDEdev
