Harsh Autogen cutoff beyond radius....?

Featured Replies

I'm getting a solid cutoff line were the autogen radius around my aircraft cuts off to flat blurry low rez terrain...

I've seen a ton of screens with other people where the autogen ends and there is a soft haze that helps eliminate the cutoff line between the autogen buildings and tress and the flat terrain beyond.

I've also seen screens where the terrain beyond the autogen looks higher rez making the cutoff less visible.

I have Orbx Global and FTX installed with AS...

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Thanks!

Chris Camp

The autogen and terrain detail radius are based on completely separate sliders in the Graphic World Options.

Make sure under Terrain Use high-resolution terrain textures is checked. Level of detail radius will also determine how far it will draw detailed textures. I have mine at High but Ultra may work for some.

Autogen and scenery draw distance I leave at Medium. If you have an extremely high end processor that's overclocked then High may be acceptable. What happens if this is set too high and the CPU is overstressed is it may not load entire chunks of autogen (even close up) and then all of a sudden it will pop back in when the CPU catches back up.

Agree that Medium is the best setting for autogen distance..

If you use visibility and weather settings to introduce some haze in the distance, it will give you the soft look you are after.

Even better, use the freeware Tomatoshade app together with the RD settings to give you some nice blue haze in the distance..

Yes, I run everything "slider-wise" as suggested but no matter what my slider settings the autogen just abruptly ends and all I see is flat empty lower rez terrain beyond?  High rez terrain is checked in sim.

It looks completely fake as there's a definite "Bubble" radius around my A/C of solid autogen buildings and tress then flat empty space after...

My question is how to I get the "BLEND" between the autogen radius bubble and the terrain beyond?

Is everyone using some type of shader or haze to blend as I see in many screenshots?

What settings in AS do you all recommend for the ground haze as I've heard lower setting with more haze can cause other issues?

Thanks?

Another thing to consider is the autogen density setting. The more autogen you draw, the more obvious the line will be when it stops. That's why I think that normal often actually looks best.
