Hmmm! - Looks very Americo-centric to me!

Whilst I am much in admiration of what we have seen so far in the upcoming FSx, I am very suspicious that it will continue its overtly americo-centricity. I do understand that this is the prime market for MS - but it's a BIG world. At least now with FS2004, we have now got a decent representation of the Australian continent - thanks to the Vista Oz team. I understand that they are continuing with their work and perhaps it will be able to be added to FSx if the new sim does not do justice to this entire southern continent.Barry

I dunnno Barry, those shots look mostly pretty generic to me. Ironically, the one identifiable landmark in any of them is Uluru - a rock from down your way, as I recall ;-). I'm sure there will still be plenty of room for improvement (at least as a developer, I hope so!), but it's hard to draw too many conclusions from a handful of shots, other than it looks great. Just my take on things.

Your right Bill! The rock does look quite good -- I missed that somehow.Barry

Barry, There's actually a good variety of shots from around the world in those screens: Austria, Spain, Hawaii, France, and Australia (as noted above) to name a few locales. Expect more locales to appear over the next few months from many different places. (and *yes* I know Hawaii is a part of the US, but it's also a great testbed for tropical locales...)Cheers,Jason

What I would really like to see/hear are the voices of Australian controllers when flying over this country.Maybe also Australian pilots huh? Or maybe the ability to differentiate based on some regional identity.I still love those screenies though, you guys have done a great job from the visuals perspective.Cheers,Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern Australia

Sorry that's not Uluru. It's a giant lump of play-doh slapped onto the surface of an asteroid somewhere. I mean, does their art department have a clue or what?I'm sorry, but the FS team should not have shown anything until they had something to show which is more than the FS9.2 free patch that the DX9 shaders they've added amount to.Very disappointed.

it's red, it's a rock, it's Ayer's Rock.

Looks a lot like Ayers Rock to me. WHat do I know. I'm American and only seen it in pictures :)

Frankly whether it is Americo-centric, European-centric or China-centric I really don't care. Many current problems with the FS have nothing to do with the continent. The overcast problem, visibility, not enough trees, wrong friction coefficient - just examples of serious errors(limitations) in the current version that have nothing to do with any specific place on this planet. I would be the last FSX user that will be checking whether a given bridge, skyscraper, a rock is really there - but that's my own take.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg

Hi Barry,If the scenic detail turns out to be weighted towards the US (not necessarily a foregone conclusion), it could have something to do with the availability of cost-effective source data. While there is a plethora highly-detailed freely-available data for the US and territories, most other governments charge inordinately-excessive fees in order to obtain that same type of source data.-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x

I guess living in the states, I really don't have a problem with it being Americo-centric at all.

Looks #### impressive to me.Some people won't be happy until FS simulates the world exactly, down to the dust that settles on the instruments. Each to their own I guess.James
