The cloud shadows are extremely nice, the soft gradient at the border of the darker zone is an impressive improvement over what we have now.

and the tone of the ground in the shadows is completely different from the areas where the sun hits.

Like in the rain over indianapolis video, the ground is nearly sepia tones (might be the windscreen though).  If they can change the ground so easily I would think they can produce snow fairly easily.

There's always a sunset happening somewhere in the world that somebody is enjoying.

Me home turf! Wow! I can't wait to fly around there. The inner harbor area looks perfect.

Certainly doesn't look like I'll need to buy many scenery add ons.

I just made almost the exact same comment in the Sat vs in-game thread. I've got a ton of add-ons and hi-res scenery to try to get even close to that.

So, to pick some nits on this tremendously good looking scene - the two things that stood out the most to me is the appearance of water going over the bridges at Patapsco Ave, Potee, and Hanover.

You can definitely also see the fun attempt at Photogrammetrying (we need a fun word for that) the piles at the Vulcan lot on the river, and some of the trees, but the effect works unless you look really close.

That's them adding water on top of the sat image.

They'll have to add custom objects for bridges and such to make it work.

Yeah, that's certainly it, I was just trying to get some feel for where they are in the development

I noticed a Little black box towards the end of the vid (circle). it flickers somehow. is it a bug, is it a reflection from a Building (that would be wow) or is it a advertisement Panel showing somethign (even more wow)

no idea how to upload a pic, so here is a link

The bit I love about this video the most is the patches of sunlight dotted around the landscape. They give such a sense of place. In fact, that’s one of the things I think we’re really going to value in the new game - a real sense of place wherever you are in the world. For those of us that mainly play these sims because it scratches a primeval adventuring itch, it should be game changing.
