Best as in money is no object?  I think 9900K, pre-binned.  But that may change soon with the KS...not sure.

9700K is a great value though.

There are some non-mainstream Intel cpu's out there, too, but my thinking on those is that they are geared more toward highly threaded apps and servers, or even if they would deliver superior FS performance, you wouldn't want to spend the price tag for them vs, a 9900K or 9700K.

9900K if you're buying today, 9900KS if you wait until next month.  Probably about a 5-10% performance difference between the two in multi-threaded apps due to the all-core boost speed of 5GHz on the 9900KS, same performance in single-threaded apps.

How much would the ks cost?? Roughly in Canadian prices?

i am looking to upgrade to the i9 9900kf thou I can wait a month for the ks

Is it really worth to spend more money for a 9900K ?

I think about an 9700K.

Mike

9700k is a good chip, 9900k (and its variants) are even better.  If 9700k is a top 5% chip (for gaming/flight sim), 9900k is a top 1% chip.

Will i get a few more FPS with the 9900K in P3D v4?

I don`t want to oc.

Then buy a Ryzen 3 series CPU... 3900X (12 core/24 thd) or 3800X (8 core/16 thd).  They have close to the same base clock as the Intel 9700K/9900K and slightly better IPC (when coupled with high performance memory).  But for pure speed and better sim performance, the Intel's overclocked to 5 GHz or higher will be the better choice.

Depends on if you overclock.  9900k is using better binned chips than 9700k so they tend to overclock a bit higher.  At stock speeds the 9900k is about 2% faster.  Not enough to notice, but the other thing to consider is that more threads (9900k = 16 threads, 9700k = 8 threads) allows the sim to load scenery faster without impacting FPS.

As is the case with anything Intel... bring plenty of money

Hmmm interesting

well if it cost more than 700 Canadian

i wont be paying that.

may I ask what is the difference with one purchasing say a KF

and going into bios and selecting all cores to 5ghz??

KS possible price $600 US hinted at but I suspect they will want to compete with AMD new CPU when it finally arrives now delayed for 2 months.

I can't see the KS being anything more than a small bump like Max says, earlier in this thread.

After that, it looks like Intel will move to Ice Lake/Comet Lake and KS will just be a blip in the great timeline of cpu's.
