I can't see the KS being anything more than a small bump like Max says, earlier in this thread.

After that, it looks like Intel will move to Ice Lake/Comet Lake and KS will just be a blip in the great timeline of cpu's.

A small bump in order to get the K over 5ghz from 3.6 is not the same as going from 4ghz to over 5ghz it will do 5ghz guarantied on all cores the K only 1 core, and I suspect you will see this pushed well past 5ghz on test.

As far as the ice lake your going to be waiting a long time to see one over 5ghz if at all, the first specs are down below just bigger cache.

My 8700K can do 5.0 ghz on all cores, so I should darn well hope the 9900K can do that, too.  So if the KS typical overclock is 5.1, so what?  What difference is .1 ghz going to make in-sim?   My guess is that the KS will just be a little bump, that is all.

You know, the Ice Lakes out now are mobile processors.  I assume Ice Lake will include some desktop processors as well...and if not, Comet Lake will for sure.

I expect the Ice Lake/Comet Lake desktop cpus in particular, to be the next increase in performance out of Intel.  How much, we'll just have to wait and see.

My 9900K does 5.0GHz on all cores. You can select that in overclocking.

I figured you could lol

Can someone please Elaborate??

thanks

It's called marketing... and in the case of Intel's "binned" CPUs the marketing hype is in high gear.  Even so, there will be people who pay a lot for the "binned" CPUs... so Intel isn't really losing anything.

Greg

Your not understanding my point if a 3.6ghz will go to 5ghz don't be surprised if a hand picked silicone CPU will go from 4ghz to 5.5ghz with good cooling.

Most folks understand your point... some just don't agree.

AIO’s and cpu heatsinks normally include brackets for common cpu sockets... LGA 1151 (9900k) in your case!

Then, what is the point of this forum??

AIO coolers should come with 2 brackets Intel and AMD corsair`s do, but for the best results do your own research before purchasing anything.

Quoting from the intro to this forum: "For discussion of issues with Motherboards, RAM, CPU's, hard disks (HDD) and solid state (SSD) and respective drivers, best desktops/laptops, and other general hardware discussions." I don't think forum discussions replace doing your own purchasing research. How would you feel if somebody gives you bad information which you use in buying something?
