September 29, 20196 yr I have very low FPS at big airports. My question is: is there a tweak or a line in prepar3d.cfg so that the scenery would appear later, when you approach closer. I am landing in singapore and I can see the gates and the scenery fully drawn from the harbour far away. Therefore low FPS. My settings of LOD and draw as set to minimum thanx

October 4, 20196 yr I run FFTF Dynamic in the sim the problem with setting a fixed FFTF you can get blurry scenery at high altitude. Raymond Fry.

If you set it low, you will eventually get blurries when cruising at high speeds because CPU can't keep up with loading when you go over the terrain fast. Normal FFTF is 0.3. Should you set an in-game frame rate limiter, then you will get FFTF 0.3. If you leave frames unlimited, then you already are effectively at FFTF 0.0. What I recommend is to do couple different profiles. For example, make one graphics profile where frames are unlimited. You can use this for low and slow terminal procedures where fast terrain loading is not a requirement. Once you are higher up and frame rate rises, you can switch over to profile that is frame limited to your preference and that automatically adjusts FFTF to 0.3 and you should not get blurries if your sim is otherwise balanced. Works well and doesn't cost you a cent. Edited October 5, 20196 yr by Evros

What I mean is this fftf is a line in p3d.cfg and it requires a restart after you change anything in that file. So how can it be really changed on the fly , how the program can be dynamic?
October 6, 20196 yr Yes it is really dynamic, and no, it does not need a restart because it is a value that can be injected on the fly. You can set limited frame rate or unlimited on the fly, and that will also change FFTF value on the fly. No restart needed. I don't know exactly how FFTF Dynamic does this, because I don't own it. I have never found it of any use in my case because using couple of graphics profiles achieves the same thing at zero cost. Edited October 6, 20196 yr by Evros
October 7, 20196 yr FFTF Dynamic example sitting at EGLL runway AI 100% FPS 22-25 start FFTF from taskbar FPS jump 3-4 FPS this because P3D default is fixed at 33 set by the devs to be mid range but the more detail nearer the ground lower is better but when airborne it needs to be higher or blurry autogen scenery can sometimes happen with high settings. PS FPS are locked in my sim 30fps when airborne stuck at 30fps CPU then helps with scenery Raymond Fry.
