September 8, 200619 yr John, How do you know that your motherboard would accept the DX10 card? The only reason I am not building anything now is... because when DX10 is announced they might say... they need their compatible chipset in the motherboard...and what notManny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
September 8, 200619 yr Like other's have said no frame Rate booster utility needed if you use common sense and the sliders. Even in the demo you can adjust FSX to run on almost any computer that people are using with FS9.From what I have seen in just the Demo this is the best FS yet for just plain fun and ease of use.
September 8, 200619 yr "Like other's have said no frame Rate booster utility needed if you use common sense and the sliders. Even in the demo you can adjust FSX to run on almost any computer that people are using with FS9."Well, with almost zero Autogen, my system runs "good" but that's less than desirable for my taste. Sure, in many ways I am new to these things. So perhaps someone other than I could do "magically" with my computer and be really satisfied.
September 8, 200619 yr So is anyuone using FS98 with an AMD, say 4000. What FPS are you seeing. I mean if we all stay 5 years behind, won't we all have 100 FPS. I plan to keep FS9 and get the fastest computer in about a year with the X-treme video card and see what I can get.JimCYWG

DX10 is linked to Windows Vista software and the graphics card hardware. As long as the DX10 card is a PCI Express card then there is no problem as the MB chipset has nothing to do with DX10.Cheers,JohnBoeing 727/737 & Lockheed C-130/L-100 Mechanichttp://www.sstsim.com/images/team/JR.jpg

September 8, 200619 yr I think I've found an acceptable compromise, one I'm prepared to accept at any rate.Graphics Target frame rate: 14 Global texture resolution: HighScenery Terrain and water Level of detail radius: Medium Mesh complexity: 90 Mesh resolution: 10 m Texture resolution: 60 cm Water effects: Low 2.x Scenery Objects Scenery complexity: Very dense Autogen density: Dense Special effects detail: HighWeather Global settings: Medium Low Visual settings Cloud draw distance: 60 mi/96 km Cloud detail Cloud coverage density: MediumI've got a 3.2 P4, 1 Gig RAM, and a Radeon 9550SE.I'll get a DX10 rig next year, but in the meantime 14 FPS gives me plenty of fluidity, and I get all the autogen I could wish for.Mike. September 8, 200619 yr And, of course, the ultimate frame rate booster...Go to your local airport and get your license.Or, if you can't do that watch all the airplanes land and take off.Sorry, couldn't resist ;)Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-) Tom Perry

Someone new like myself can surely profit from the insightful knowledge of others who are kind enough to understand and willing share their nuggets of wisdon with others like myself.dito
