September 20, 200619 yr NAS:if you are going to mess with AI, how about a (wild) possibility of doing it in a truly realistic manner, -- by "farming" AI pilots all the way from cessnas to triple-sevens with a personal touch of genetics algorithms and a learning curve of neural networks algorithms? :) Not to sound too crazy, but real world aviation is a whole bunch of human pilots, controllers, passengers, and mechanics, with their own levels of expertise and personal issues. What's my point? It will finally make sense to have a virtual copilot who can learn to fly by sitting in the right seat, log hours, and qualify for a certain levels in the hierarchy of AI pilots. Then, you can share this trained guy with VAs and other pilots, and they will continue live their happy AI lifes, with their personal features affecting their careers, safety e.t.c. You can somehow spin up this "alternative AI", and anyone can introduce his/her own (co)pilots to populate the AI world. I understand you can smell Sims in here, but isn't it a good idea? Anyway, even if it is, you are more likely into a less complex solution, I guess. Good luck with your initiative anyways! Cheers,

Gotta walk before you crawl. So I'm gonna start with what I know I can do, and move on from there.
