How is ATC in FSX Beta?

I DON'T mind highway traffic or animals, especially that they ARE present in real life. Yes, you can't see them very well from FL380, but can you in FSX? Definitely the traffic IS visible around in the takeoff and approach phases of the flight, isn't it. All that makes flying more realistic, so I see no reason to kill someone for bringing us these features. So, let's not blame developers for the goodies they present us with. You don't need something, you can turn it off in your settings, not a big deal at all.On the other hand, however, I too am very dissapointed with no significant ATC changes, at least as far as I hear from demo and beta reports (I myself am not a beta-tester). We all expected things like (among others):- great choice of controllers' voices- different accent over different parts of the globe- SIDs and STARs default implementation- better logic of go-arounds, level changes or airport guidanceI do fly with VATSIM, so I could say I don't care about it at all. But I do, since all those starting their learning curve offline would have much better background switching over to live control afterwards.Well, what can we do. We all will eventually support MS buying FSX, including myself ;)Best regards,Rafal

Well I'm a commercial real pilot-and I want to see moving cars and animals (especially birds) because I see them all the time when I fly for real. How do you know that Microsoft didn't concentrate on the survey results?-just curious about your statement.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

You can fly planes too! How convenient! :-hah

no, i like the dynamic world, i like the cars etc etc, well done to Microsoftgeez if you want good ATC buy yourself Radar Contact or get yourself onto VatsimGeeeez.x(

Well, moving vehicles/flying birds aren't bad at all.I'm curious whether birdstrikes will be possbile then- that would really be a nice feature. Otherwise, it's just an eyecandy. But ATC will always be more important than this feature. We will see what the future brings... maybe they improve/add some certain things? Who knows... Regards,Mariusclassic3.jpg

no big changes in ATC, no big changes in preventing go-arounds, no big changes in using crossing runways infact some say its even harder now to trick the game into using them, still no sid/stars by the ATC, etc add infinitybut hey, we have birds and cars and ships now....

There's talk about the program Radar Contact. How many of these problems can owning RC fix?RH

well, basically everything but AI traffic interaction and I hear they are working on that.

I think the perspective of cars and animals and ATC depends on how one uses the sim. GA pilots flying VFR may not use ATC at all depending on the area but see all sorts of animal life along the way, on the other hand Airline pilots may see birds and traffic on takeoff and landing but not enroute and require more realistic ATC. Fortunately, both are modelled in the sim, both can be turned off and both have the capability to be modified by the FS community. This rehashed argument has come up many times in the past with the same result. Some like the living world, some do not and would prefer the time have been spent on other features such as ATC, but the ability to modify both is what FS is all about. In 6 months I can envision medivac helicopters rushing to the scene of an accident on a highway or landing in remote areas to rescue trapped campers surrounded by mountain lions. Add to that multiplayer, Radar Contact or Vatsim then I believe everyone should be happy concerning the living world and the atc.Ian.

Actually I can almost (almost...) SWEAR that I read that there would be different acents, at least a few different ones in FSX, dependant upon where you are in the world.

if you tell me what problems you're talking about, i can tell you whether rc can "fix" themjd

Yeah whatever.Water Mango and above: FSX has improved markedly in many respects. I'm sick of hearing your whinging. I personally am looking forward to it and most agree with me that it is the most improved FS of any generation.Well done MS.Oh, and why should MS bother with improving ATC when in reality it's not that bad, and if you're really desperate you can get addon ATC software anyway. For the cost of FSX your getting a bargain imho.So sick of BS on these forums.James

Sorry, but not everyone agrees that ATC is more important than the increased level of immersion FSX offers. That is only your opinion, and believe me, you're in the minority.James

>Actually I can almost (almost...) SWEAR that I read that>there would be different acents, at least a few different ones>in FSX, dependant upon where you are in the world.>You did read this in one of the beta reviews, but the reviewer based this on something he heard in a mission and not in the free-flight mode. The ATC in the missions is many times better than in free-flight but only because the mission "knows" where you will be going and all the ATC transmissions are pre-recorded for your specific route.
