PILOT'S FS GLOBAL ULTIMATE - NEXT GENERATION - FPS Impact?

Featured Replies

For me FSGlobal 2018 NG boots so much faster than Global 2010 with m.2 pcie ssd and with a 50% deal on simmarket - it is a no brainer deal.

Here is my speed - P3D+Orbx Global+Vector+openLC NA + EU with Full Global 2018 Mesh = 6 secs boot up to Scenario window (that is lot of data p3d is reading - 80gb of mesh+50gb of p3d & those listed orbx).

Right now I have few addon airports, fslabs 320, pmdg 737ngxu, Australia v2+NZ+NI+ Full 36gb of AIG data etc - It is up to 1 min to boot up with like 200gb+ of data being read.

Some airports will have plateaus but I mostly fly on payware airports - so I do not have that problem.

No FPS impact, just longer loading time.

I stopped using the "ultimate" mesh as the resolution is so high that in some areas it doesn't look good, plus it causes a lot of airport elevation problems.

I'm actually using FreemeshX and really like it so far.  It's only LOD10 38m max resolution but mountains look quite good.  I'd like to have LOD11 19m but not sure if it's worth $30.  Moreover, Pilot's is vague about which areas of the world are covered in LOD11 - is it all mountainous and hilly areas or just some?

Thanks everyone for your input. What I don't understand is why Ultimate NG should cause more problems with mismatched airports than 2010 or Freemesh? I'm talking about add-on airport sceneries here, not default. Or am I misinterpreting your posts?

The sharpest mesh always supersedes a coarser one. NG has a finer grain than the older ones you mentioned. If is also better than a payware aiport custom mesh, that may trigger a problem.

No. It just depends on the place where you insert your mesh data in the add-on list.

Holger Sandman has said it many times but you may be a better expert than him. I also experienced it many times until v3 at least. Things may have changed in v4.

For best results on FS Global 2018 NG -

Install Clean P3D base and then install FS Global 2018 Ng - it is so some default p3d scenery folder is deactivated etc.  Now if you have install other sceneries, the layer gets changed in scenery.cfg and then their installer kinda disables or doesn't disable the files it needs to.  I am not sure if it affects terrain.cfg - but to safe and sound always install the mesh first before other addons

After this I install Orbx Global, Vector, openLC, libs etc

Hope it helps.
