December 12, 20196 yr Just for reference in real world autolands we don’t sit on our hands , we’re following through on the controls and monitoring very closely ready to take over at any point in case of failures. Autolands are only normally used for low viz ops and rather than being easy they’re one of the scariest things you’ll ever do in an aeroplane when using CAT3B no decision height in 75 meters visibility ! 787 captain. Previously 24 years on 747-400.Technical advisor on PMDG 747 legacy versions QOTS 1 , FS9 and Aerowinx PS1.
December 12, 20196 yr Once I you get used to it, it isn't scary, but confidence depends on the aicraft as well. Contrary to e.g. the A320, in which I even experienced bounced and off center autolands, the 767 performs these very nice. You can actually learn from 767 autolands how to land her manually.
January 3, 20206 yr I fly XP mostly so if you want a study level high quality aircraft just plop yourself into zibo 737-800. Best part it's completely free. Yes it can autoland hands free and it is MMR equipped. :). Rivals if not exceeds PMDGs 737 P3D side, and is updated with new features on almost daily basis. Not knocking PMDG but I paid 135 for it and paid nothing for zibo that is on par in quality and depth of simulation. Outside of the zibo XP side any tube liner by Flight factor or Toliss will get you a good quality payware and autoland capability. We are talking any Boeing or Airbus by those two companies. P3D I own primarily for PMDGs 747 that XP is lacking Dash that I want to learn to fly and Orbx scenery while my XP orhophotos are being generated and GSX that was never ported over to XP sandbox.
January 5, 20206 yr FSLabs A32x / A319 perform autoland. Coherent nav data / runway data / navaids are required though.
