October 8, 200619 yr I have already bought my first FSX addon the FSGenesis FSX mesh for North America. FSX deluxe is ordered but not delivered and that order can be canceled. After reading this forum I'm starting to think that FSX could be a wate of money for me simply because my system is not powerful enough. I have in Fs9 Megascenery Misty Fjords FSGenesis mesh and UT for Europe and North America and GE and FE.From what I now have understood FSX can't give me something better than I already have with these addons. Should you have canceled the FSX order if you were in my position with ( I can't upgrade anytime soon)?AMD Athlon 64bit 3200+Palit Nividia Geforce 6600GT 256M DDR31 Gb 400 MHz RAM2 * 160 Gb SATA in raid 0A Yes cancel is the best option would really disappoint me. I have been looking forward to FSX. Maybe there is improvements thats not clearly visible at once? Can FSX give me something I don't have with FS9? Maybe flying in areas where I have no addon scenery for FS9? Any hope for buy it is the best thing to do?
October 8, 200619 yr Cancel your order? Of course not. In a 30 posts thread, there are 30 different yardsticks measuring satisfactory performance for themselves. A couple of folks have already offered compromises with the auto-gen trees and roofs that help; a lot. Have fun and remember misery loves company! LOL. j/k.Bob.... Bob Prince
October 8, 200619 yr My friend when FS11 comes out and FSX is old news are you still going to hold back just because of what you hear from this web site. i suggest you not worry about it and move on to the next generation of simming, because if you dont you will be left behind and really be frustrated.Hardcore simmer................Robert
October 8, 200619 yr I'll copy this post from someone who has a system similar to yours:"Running on an old e-machines w3080 amd athlon 3000+ here with 1 gb ram, 6600 gt. I played with the settings and locked at 15fps, very smooth setting.Demo 2:High global textures. (not much difference from medium as far as I could tell).Mesh at 100.Terrain at 2 cm. (very crisp and clear)Water at 2.x low. (Love the water, best feature)High scenery complexity.Sparse Autogen.Advanced animations.6o mile cloud draw distance.100 % cloud density.Airline and GA at 100% (not much traffic here so this is not a good guage of performance).cars at 50%. Boats at 50%Overall, a very pleasing view out the window. I will say it's a very nervous 15fps, flying near the forest behind Julianna dips to 13 a little. These are the settings I will attempt with the retail version, but I'll most likely have to drop either the autogen to none or the Terrain res to 5m to get 15 locked. As a note, I tried locking to 13 but that was slightly too low as i could discern that chop when looking down at the airport.I'm not sure why systems that are much better than mine are causing 2 fps? Maybe drop some settings down? I wish I knew first hand.As far as the sim itself it's a joy to fly. As stated, there are subtle changes to flight dynamics, atmosphere etc...that really enhance the feeling of flight. It seems very fluid even at 15 fps (which is what I get in FS9 with all the add-ons), and no stutters that I could see. I do hope the performance issues get resolved for everyone because despite the negativity it really is a great improvement over FS9.Ian."looks like he's having a blast, I say go for it.
October 8, 200619 yr Only you can make the decision to cancel. You could keep your FSX order in the hope that it works on your PC ... the choice is yours :). I am not ordering FSX for the time being.I have a P4 3GHz with ATI 9600 256Mb and 1Gb RAM. I have been delaying my purchase of FSX due to a hunch. I get the feeling that FSX is another FS2000 or LOMAC (graphically advanced FPS hogs). The feedback on the forums haven't proven me wrong! I have used the V2 Demo and the graphics are beautiful. However, with default aircraft and low slider settings here are my findings:1) Frame rates low, but ~acceptable2) Fluidity in flight is satisfactory. Stutters occur in turns.3) Reloading of textures and 3D objects is annoying. Buildings disappear and then reload when I change view!A complex addon would never run smoothly in FSX. Imagine the PMDG 747-400 or PSS A340 in such an environment!? Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"

So my system is optimised for FS9 and runs smoothly. That setup should also benefit the FSX.>I have a P4 3GHz with ATI 9600 256Mb and 1Gb RAM. I have been>delaying my purchase of FSX due to a hunch. October 9, 200619 yr Cancel it and buy it in a years time when it'll be cheaper and you'll have more chance of enjoying it rather than inviting hours of frustration. . . .
October 9, 200619 yr I would consider adding another 1GB RAM to your machine. That will make a good difference to Windows generally, and FS in particular.
October 9, 200619 yr i have a similiar system to yours, i upgraded by an extra 1 gig to 2 gig, got rid of the 6600Gt to a 7600GT, so i would do a mini upgrade. I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
October 9, 200619 yr Author >I would consider adding another 1GB RAM to your machine. That>will make a good difference to Windows generally, and FS in>particular.I have always heard that > 1 Gb is overkill for FS9. Now O often hear that for FSX it's 2 Gb we need.
