April 4, 20206 yr It's only when these SODE jetways animate, they don't move smoothly, unlike pretty much all other moving objects such as airport vehicles, other planes, and even the GSX original marshals and pushback crew etc they are all nice and smooth. And I don't know yet regarding what all airports are doing this. But since installing GSX 2 every single time one has gone into motion it's been the same. Now that I think of it this is kind of the same way road traffic has moved for me in P3D 2.x, 3.x, and now 4.5. Noel I misread your post. There are a number of potential SODE objects that can be found at a few airports. These include windsocks, hangar doors, Safedock objects and even rain puddles. SODE is used to conditional animate an object. SODE objects can also have associated effects such as sounds. However, these objects are far less common than jetways.

GSX own marshallers/vehicles use ( in P3D4 ) the PDK interface to drive animations ( in FSX they used the Gauge interface ), so they are not dependent on Simconnect and/or Simconnect issues. I'm not 100% sure about SODE jetways, but I guess they use Simconnect. Note that, GSX only creates the jetway, but it's SODE that animates it. GSX Passengers use Simconnect instead. Are they suffering from the same problem ? If yes, it seems your problem is really Simconnect, so read below. If not, so you have smooth GSX passenger but stutters in SODE Jetways, it might be a problem with SODE. In this case, you should first check if this happens on an airport that uses SODE XML jetways, that is SODE jetways NOT made by GSX. What can affect Simconnect is the following: - Other add-ons are sending lots of Simconnect commands in a very short time, so the sim cannot cope with all of them. That's the main reason why we don't use Simconnect for GSX own marhallers/vehicles, so they won't be affected by Simconnect clogged by to many add-ons using it. - A problem with the AffinityMask, which is usually best left alone. SODE might not get enough CPU time because the change of affinity, which prevented the OS to marshal correctly all the threads from multiple processes, which is what is normally supposed to do, when you don't touch the default Affinity settings. - A problem with Hyper-Threading. It's common knowledge that for P3D4, it's best to turn off HT in the BIOS, so you are sure that only real physical cores will be used. HT is tricky and it's usually a benefit only with some application, related to the CPU low-level caches, their size, the compiler used, so it's rarely a benefit. April 4, 20206 yr Thanks Jay & Umberto, It could be that I'm being hypercritical. There is a stutter in the animations of the jetways but it's modest to be fair and fairly consistent, as if the frame rate is a steady 18 or so, but clearly much more visible than as I say airport vehicles and GSX marshallers/vehicles. I did end up running the SimConnect installers again and maybe it's better. I would love to see a good video of what you both are seeing and others who replied that it's smooth for them. I do use an affinity mask maintained by Process Lasso. P3D4.5 gets Core1-7, side apps like SODE get Core0+6,7, and I'm not seeing any issues w/ those per se, but I certainly can disable the mask and test which I haven't yet done. I'll be rather amazed if it is playing a role in this there seems to be plenty of available cores to run everything off of P3D's main thread. Umberto-THANKS for GSX and I'm really enjoying the level 2 additions ;o) I will try running w/o an AM and let you both know. It's weird, I'd love to see a video close-up of those jetways looking at them thru a side window. It does stutter about like the road traffic has done ever since it first arrived. April 13, 20206 yr Umberto kind Sir, I've tried a few times now to get my password at FSDT forum to no avail--when I request it via the Forgot your Password link I don't get an email and I have checked the SPAM folder and no joy. I'd like to post a question there about an aspect of GSX but can't because I can't log on. Can you help me get logged back on to the FSDT forum? Thanks, not sure where else to turn. April 18, 20206 yr Wow, I just flew out of FSDT Honolulu and the animation on those jetways was as it should be--smooth. I'm surprised no one has addressed the really choppy animation w/ the SODE activated jetways. They are very beautifully done jetways which only emphasizes what a shame to see them stuttering as they do. I looked for evidence others have this and sure enough a couple of youtube videos showed the same issue, so it's SODE and some sort of interference by too many sim connect requests or what have you.
