SODE Jetway Control

Featured Replies

Is there a way to control SODE Jetways via keyboard shortcuts?

I updated Justsim's EDDL to v2 in the hope to be able to control the Jetways via Ctrl+J.

They introduced SODE based Jetways and the visual docking displays. But I was only able to use it via pulling up the SODE text menu. As I am using it from within my home cockpit on a 180 degree screen, this is annoying.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael, you first should have installed the SODE engine before trying to use an addon scenery SODE jetways.  I'm sure Justsim has instructions in their product manual on how to do this.

For reference, the default keycommand for SODE jetways is the Tab key but if you have any FMS equipped PMDG airplanes they will take the Tab key for the FMS scratchpad function.  It is easy to set a different keycommand for SODE and they include this in their documentation.  I like to use Shift+J just because it is next to the default Cntrl+J (which will never work for anything but default jetways).

The SODE engine is generally working.

Tab+S opens the text menu on my pc.From there I can click through the menu and finally dock/undock the jetway

Isn't there a way to dock/undock the jetway directly? Like Control+J is working for standard jetways.

Yeah that's my wish too, there's an automatic docking in SODE settings but unfortunately it isn't working for me, if my memory is correct, before installing GSX it worked, but I need GSX for the marshallers and pushback.

I don't use GSX. Could I use the automated docking? Where would I find the setting?

You know, since you guys were talking about s.o.d.e. airports, check this out  👇

I posted something about this s.o.d.e.  thing a few hours ago.
Some airports use it, some others don't.... but besides that, make sure you read my post here :

I think this is very important to check out, it might help some people use these files correctly.

That's an interesting tip, but I just checked my SODE xml files and none of them have that line at the end of the file. That's a total of 54 files from Flightbeam, FlyTampa, LatinVFR, Taxi2Gate, ORBX, ImagineSim and even a few I did myself. What all these XML files have in common is that they were created with SODE Placer, the tool that was authored by Jeffrey Steahli, the SODE developer. I have four FSDT airports, but I do not have the SODE jetways enabled.

Yes jay, it's true but i saw some people in the forums, sometimes complaining for some of them not working corect.
..one of them being, myself.
So... i started to diging around through their code, see what was goin on, you know ?... and why do these files
work the way they work, or don't..etcetera..
The trick was just simply by compare them, with other "code" files and THERE, i saw this little detail.
So i did the change, opened P3D4, tried it out and ...BOOM !!.. my scenery worked flawlessly 😊

(maybe someone should inform these guys for their next lovely sceneries, just in case)

My point is that whatever software either  created or last edited those XML files messed them up by adding an empty tag pair.

Jay, I am having troubles with GSX Level 2 and how the SODE jetways are animating in P3D 4.5.  Despite plenty of GPU and CPU headroom the animation of the jetways is poor--herky jerky, low frame rate, while the rest of the sim is fluid and as I say ample GPU/CPU headroom.  Airport vehicles and trams etc are silky smooth, but when the nice looking SODE jetways activate it's not pretty.  Someone on another thread mentioned it could be a case of two instances of SODE being evoked from two different XML files.  Can you guide me on how to find an XML file that might do this?  I'm not familiar w/ XML files other than I have opened one up once to change something following someone's posted advise.  Thanks in advance,

Noel

For airports that do not have their own SODE jetways, GSX2 only uses an SODE jetway at the user's gate. The rest are static non-SODE jetways. However, if a 3rd party airport comes with its own SODE jetways, then GSX2 uses them instead. It's unlikely that you have two different 3rd party airports installed, but here's where to look:

C:\ProgramData\12bPilot\SODE\xml

More on this...

I just see one .xml file for each of my add-on airports.  Is there anything else that uses SODE besides jetways at airports do you know?

It's possible to have an SODE-enabled object outside of an airport, but I've never seen one.

Is this slowdown happening at all airports?
