Windows Mixed Reality is Dogs Diner

Featured Replies

At this point I would highly discourage anyone from buying a Windows Mixed Reality VR headset.

Not that there is anything particularly wrong with the headsets. I find the Samsung Odyssey+

great. But the Windows Mixed reality software is word not allowed!

You start steam VR before starting Prepar3D and it should all work fine.

But once I am ready to fly I enter VR Mode in Prepar3D and put the headset

on at which point WMR decides to make the desktop and unusable and at

the same time freezes P3D. Lift up the headset over your eyes press

Start + Y to return use of the destop and then click on the P3D icon in the task

bar. What a complete pain the neck and now I am finding the this stupid Windows

Mixes reality popup appears in the middle of the screen and I cannot get rid of it.

I've trying to get this to work for an hour so nearly all the time I had is gone.

I feel like taking a hammer to the thing.🤬

I have said it a zillion times. Samsung Odyssey is ok.

Windows mixed reality software........ Less so.

Though to be fair, steam Vr software has had some nice updates on the usability front, so there is a bright side.

No any problem with WMR and P3Dv4 and Windows10. Just 60Hz refresh rate is a problem (on picture) with some title, the rest works like a charm.

Perhaps Your set up is wrong.

I use WMR with DCS, P3D and IL-2. Works like a charm.

Also You can disable Shift+Y permanently, its only one click in option and You will never use it.

I wish I could get the ease of use of the Oculus software with the resolution of my Reverb.

Thanks for this. I suppose its about time I got into the nitty-gritty of this.

There are a couple of problems I am having and I can't seem to find solutions.

This for example. In SteamVR Home I have no access to apps. Just blank walls:

I recall that in the past I could start games from inside StreamVR home but there is nothing there.

Did you try reinstalling?

I'd did about a week ago and verified local files in properties etc.

But i'll try re-install again tomorrow.

Do you use Steam VR WMR beta?

Windows 10: 1903 or 1909?

You can find here settings also for WMR and how to set up (DCS) but the way is the same near:

https://vr4dcs.com/2019/09/10/reverb-settings-for-dcs/ (or find here similar topic, guide).

btw. In Steam room you can see ONLY VR games (native for VR only). Do You have any VR game? You can take something for free like for example awsome BBC: Space walk https://store.steampowered.com/app/512270/Home__A_VR_Spacewalk/ .

btw2. In most of time i dont use controllers and be in Steam room. Just click for open software (minimized), next P3D, activation VR and now I take an helmet.

Yes there should be a few in there. Thanks for the links. I'll review.

I literally have had ZERO problems with WMR. It is the most stable part of my VR setup. It's simple and it works.

Albeit, that is once I got my replacement Reverb. With my original bad Reverb I had nothing but screen and startup problems.

Check your setup and hardware thoroughly, I found it very important.

What popup are you getting exactly?

Nice tutorial for new in WMR:
