APU INOP?

Featured Replies

Anyone else having issues getting the APU to start? Battery is on and showing 24 volts, APU master switch to on... and nothing.

Don't have XL560, but according to the RW manual there's a start/stop switch on the APU system panel.

Correct. It's spring-loaded in the start position. Switching it there with both the mouse click and wheel, it stays in the start position briefly and then back to NORM and nothing happens (I left that step off above, sorry).

Looks like this is a bug and should be reported ASAP, since Carenado/Alabeo are usually releasing the first patch within days after the initial release.

If the switch is in the NORM position and jumps back to this position, it's spring loaded to the NORM position 😉

Yep, can confirm APU does not work.

APU works. This part they actually modeled after the real jet lol. You have to turn the right fuel boost pump on first.

Not quite correct. According to my XL560 manual you don't turn on any fuel pump manually.

As soon as you move the APU start-stop switch to start, the ECU automatically activates the right fuel boost pump.

Gotcha. I just watched this video to finally figure it out yesterday. Not sure what model that is in the vid, but it worked with the Excel in FS.

Thanks for the tip! Based on a quick scan of the manuals I have, that doesn’t sound like correct behavior, but I’ll double check with my buddy who flies an Excel. Maybe it’s an early version quirk or something... Thanks!

Here's the corresponding page from the training manual, no mention of fuel boost that I'm seeing.

Confirmed with a former check airman and current operator of the Excel that the fuel boost on is not required in the 560XL. He said it was required in the 560 but in the Excel it happens automatically when the APU startup occurs. Will report to Carenado.

I've reported this already.

Fuel Boost pump does NOT need to be on

That's because you are using 1.1. (it's in the fix list).

I think Rob is asking if the fix and this behavior for the APU is accurate to real C56X.

This has been already confirmed by Trevor.
