October 11, 200619 yr I have the FSX retail deluxe version and have added all of my Ultimate Traffic AI. I am missing the voices for them as FSX GVP does not have all of the needed voices. Can I just copy the FS2004 gvp file and put it into FSX in place of the default gvp? If I can will it work OK, ? Will EVP Version 3.1 read the default gvp if I put it into FS2004 so EVP could find it. Thanks, regards, BobF.
October 11, 200619 yr Hi,Worked with the demo. No one has tried it yet with the release version. Is it that hard to do it yourself and then post the results here? I don't think so...--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
October 11, 200619 yr Author Hi,I tried this last night with the Retail Deluxe version and everything seems to be working well so far. (I also copied airlines.cfg into the root of FSX)This is only based on an hour or so of testing by observing AI traffic at O'Hare but there are no apparent glitches. If you are worried about trying it, just back up your original file first.Dave David Webster AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D | G.Skill 32GB DDR4 3600Mhz | EVGA RTX 3080 Ti @ 3440X1440 | Crucial 2TB M.2 | Win11
October 11, 200619 yr Author Sorry, didn't answer the second part of the question...I don't think EVP 3.1 can find the gvp file in FSX. Probably due to a registry setting it is only looking for the file in the FS2004 installation. Any editing you need to do will have to be done to the FS2004 file, then you can just copy it over to FSX.Dave David Webster AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D | G.Skill 32GB DDR4 3600Mhz | EVGA RTX 3080 Ti @ 3440X1440 | Crucial 2TB M.2 | Win11
October 11, 200619 yr As noted - works great - not that there is a different folder location in FSX.I wouldn't want the current version of EVP to find the FSX voicepack file.Updating the FS2004 file and copying over is just fine as far as I am concerned.
October 11, 200619 yr Author Yes, forgot to mention the new file location...USEEnglishBig.gvp is now located in the "Root FSXSoundATC" directory. Airlines.cfg is now located in the root FSX directory.Dave David Webster AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D | G.Skill 32GB DDR4 3600Mhz | EVGA RTX 3080 Ti @ 3440X1440 | Crucial 2TB M.2 | Win11
October 11, 200619 yr Dave,How is the performance? What was your FPS before and after in that same place and what % of airline traffic did you have?Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 11, 200619 yr Hi Tom. You are right. I did it myself. It works OK so far. I just copied the FS2004 one and put it into FSX after backing up the FSX one and moving it out of FSX. It now recognizes all of my AI aircraft from UT that I put into FSX from FS2004. I see others have done the same thing. Thanks and best regards, Bob.
October 11, 200619 yr Thanks Dave. It won't find the FSX gvp. I already tried. I think I will move my FS2004 gvp out and replace it with the FSX one just to see if EVP will read it and see what is in it if it works. There is no SDK on the voices unfortuneatly. So far the FS2004 one works OK in FSX. Best regards, Bob.
October 11, 200619 yr Author Hi Manny,As expected, the AI traffic costs you valuable fps.If I use a view of the KORD terminals with 50% airline traffic, I get about 9-10 fps. If I set traffic to 0% in the same view I get about 15-17 fps. That is with a combination of AI Aardvark and EvolveAI aircraft that I transferred over to FSX from FS2004, along with the FS2004 traffic.bgl file (renamed trafficAircraft.bgl for FSX).Dave David Webster AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D | G.Skill 32GB DDR4 3600Mhz | EVGA RTX 3080 Ti @ 3440X1440 | Crucial 2TB M.2 | Win11
October 12, 200619 yr Transfering all files from FS9 to FSX seems to work fine.I notice that in some locations I get a CTD if my AI traffic gets too dense. eg. at KSEA I can set 100% but at LOWW my maximum setting is 87% - higher than that and I get a CTD.It could be because I might have missed copying all my AI aircraft folders - or something else. Curious if others have some similar experiences. Thanks
