Reality GTN 750 no show...

Featured Replies

I assume your P3D install location is default...I'll assume it is.

After opening the Management Tool, where is says "Choose your simulator version" are you selecting P3Dv4 as your sim...whenever I open the tool it defaults to "Custom". If you're running P3Dv4.5HF2 make sure you select P3Dv4, then select the RXP GTN 750.

Also RXP is not available in the drop down Addon menu.

As I think about this some more, I now realize the fact that the RXP GTN is not listed in the P3d menu Add-On drop down list is very significant since that is independent of a particular aircraft -- it should be there for all aircraft, e. g., default aircraft, etc. I would ask RXP what might cause the GTN to not show up in the Add-On  list

Thanks. As long as I have something that works, I'm good.

I'm hesitant about a client reinstall; everything else is perfect and has been for a while.

Cheers,

Mark

Yes, to all.

Hi Mark,

First, is this the first time you are trying to use the RXP GTN750, or has it worked for you in the past with previous versions?

After installing the RXP GTN, I have the following:

1. A folder Reality XP GTN  with the file add-ons.xml at C:\Users\your-name\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons . Removing the add-ons file here removes RXP from the P3D Add-ons drop down menu.

2. Sub folders Common & Drivers, and files like Reality XP.dll (and others) at  C:\ProgramData\Reality XP

3. Sub folders Gauges  & GTN Simulation at     C:\Program Files (x86)\Reality XP

If I drill down far enough inside GTN Simulation I eventual find files called rxpGTN_menu.dll and add-on.xml again. Removing the rxpGTN_menu.dll file here removes RXP from the P3D drop down Add-on menu.

I understand you are probably tired of all this, but if we can figure things out it might help others down the road.

It has absolutely worked before. I went over to RXP from Flight1 because of support which is excellent. I have no idea what is preventing a full install of RXP which appears to be what's going on.

I'll look at at the rest of this when I get home. Thanks.

Mark,

Besides the anti-virus issue, I wonder if your P3D install is where the RXP thinks it is? Is P3d installed into the typical location on the C drive?

Finally, did you ever have a chance to check for the rxpGTN_menu.dll file that I mentioned a few posts above? I bring it up again because if I remove it there is no RXP entry in the P3D Add-ons drop down menu. This dll is one of the files the RXP add-on.XML file points to, and should be at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Reality XP\GTN Simulation\FltSim\64\rxpGTN_menu.dll .

Stock install. No directory changes.

No av running.

The menu dll is there in both 32/64 bit iterations.

Jean-Luc is now involved over in the RXP forum.

This should be interesting as well as informative. I'd like to know WT* is going on for my own information.

Cheers,

Mark,

I looked at your add-on.xml via the link you posted on the RXP forum and noticed at the very end of the file there seems to be a missing closing  >  after  </SimBase.Document, i.e., it should be </SimBase.Document> .  My guess would be this is just a copy/paste typo, but just checking.

I also noticed that my add-on.xml file has a final section that looks like this and is not included in what you posted:

<AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Gauges</Category>
        <Name>Reality XP GPS Annunciation</Name>
        <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\Reality XP\Gauges\GPS Annunciation</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>

However, this section refers to a couple of 'extra' gauges (  Annunciator and TAWS control units ) that FSW does not use, and it's absence may not have  anything to do with the P3D Add-on menu issue. But again, just wanted to mention it.

Edit: By any chance do you have a Reality XP folder in C:\Program Files as well as C:\Program Files(86)? If so, that could be a problem which some others have had. There should not be a Reality XP file in Program Files.

Copy and paste issue on the closing tag.

No RXP in program files.

I invited Jean-Luc to Teamviewer in to hopefully save us some time.

We'll see.

Well, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas, at least for the moment, and will be very interested on what the solution turns out to be.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the help. I suspect the verdict will be the same from RXP.

Flight 1 works well so no complaints from me 😎

Deleting the 'Generated Files' in the P3D root folder fixed everything.

Might want to file that away somewhere for future reference given the time we have both spent on this :>)
