October 13, 200619 yr In FS9, it was best to set AA and AF in the driver.*BUT* in FSX, I cannot do this. I doesn't work for me. Anyone else find this to be true?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
October 14, 200619 yr I have found the same thing. I don't find it to be an issue, since the ingame AA/AF looks just as good as with FS9 and AA/AF enabled externally.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
October 14, 200619 yr Using the demo, I found there were big differences between different AA and AF settings via the drivers, so I assume it should work in the final. I hope it does because I like to ratchet up the IQ. October 14, 200619 yr Same here, (for demo v2 anyway)Changing settings in the driver for AF and AA has no effect whatsoever. It's all from the FSX options it would seem. October 14, 200619 yr I can adjust with the driver fine, makes a big difference when I try to use 8xS AA compared to 2x.
October 14, 200619 yr >I can adjust with the driver fine, makes a big difference>when I try to use 8xS AA compared to 2x.Really???!! That is beyond strange. We have the same driver ver, practically the same card. Are you the only person that can do this?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
October 14, 200619 yr Huh, I use hardware settings and see AA and AF done in-game. I leave them unchecked in the game (using demo 2 though). October 14, 200619 yr The first day I had FSX, changing settings in the driver was not working. Then I made sure I removed FSX from the list as I had it from the demo version, so once it was removed from the list, I closed the control panel, logged off, logged back in, added fsx.exe, change my settings, click apply and its worked fine since.
October 14, 200619 yr For AF I use trilinear ingame and 16xAF with the driver. Gives me really crisp textures. For AA I first used the ingame AA but than tried 4xAA in the driver and it gives a nice 5 FPS boost. I can even use 8xAA with the driver and I still have 5 FPS more than with ingame AA. And it looks better. I think ingame AA is comparable with 4xAA.So, my settings are:ingameAF = trilinearAA = nonedriverAF = 16AA = 8
October 14, 200619 yr What are your system specs ?And what drivers are u currently running if I may ask.I am currently running Trilenar in game,FW CP AA=4X and AF=8X with the Forceware 91.47 OCed using the detection in the CP.I am running FS Deluxe @ unlimited and I get from 10-12 @ KPHL with most sliders maxed and using Ultimate Traffic in the lower 80s.I am avg in the low to mid 20's flying the default Baron/KingAir/CRJ-700 in VC in mid to heavy detailed clouds.I have used some of the tweaks mentioned in other threads pertaining to AutoGen which has helped and there were some other tweaks in the cfg that I did as well.I have to say I am loving this Sim and have been simming since SubLogic ATP days on a IBM PCjr LOL.I also just built the rig listed below and have tweaked and oced the memory timings and FSB.I have yet to encounter one stutter in this SIM which I would trade for lower FPS anyday.Andy
