October 15, 200619 yr Hi everybody,Although I have a very fast system, like almost any of you I always search for getting more details/fps.I have been reading, searching for tips and testing for 2 days and now am at the point that I am ahppy with FSX how it is performing now.I decideed to do all the tweaks around and this is what I did :- Roof fix- Tree fix- Reduced Cloud textures- Reduced Tree textures- Reduced European autogen Building textures ( this one I made )- Reduced Taxiway and Runway textures- Reduced Ground textures - In the FSX.cfg file : TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CEL=4500 -> works only for forest ! TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CEL=3000 FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.25 TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400Regarding the reduced ground textures :Fs2004 had 256x256 , FSX had 1024x1024 ; nu they are 512x512 , so still twice as sharp as Fs2004! I have set the autogen and scenery complexity both to very denseWater 2x lowCloud High detailedAircraft Traffic 50%All shadows offFramerate locked at 22 , but for the screenshot Unlimited. For all tweaks : http://www.fox-fam.com/wordpress/?page_id=41For the screenshot I used Slew, because Pause will give you a good framertae boost, while Slew , even when not moving , gives you the same as when moving.Good luck ! 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
October 15, 200619 yr thanksbut the real test is with the PMDG 747 or the PSS 777 in VC. I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram

October 15, 200619 yr >thanks>>but the real test is with the PMDG 747 or the PSS 777 in VC.Which used to bring some systems to their knees when they first came out for FS9.
October 15, 200619 yr Let us first get good performance with the default FSX ; after that we can talk with framerate eating addons. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
October 15, 200619 yr From what I have seen so far VC gives almost double the FPS than I am getting in the 2D. This is with payware that I have imported over to FSX from FS9. Granted these are not LDS or PMDG but the detailed VC of some of the other payware seem to be giving great speeds. I really believe that the big boys will be able to make their new models to be great looking and performing in FSX. ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO

If anyone can figure out a better way to do this, then please let me know. This will convert all the ground textures from 1024
October 15, 200619 yr The bacthfile coverts all ground textures form 1024x1024 to 512x512Beside the ground texturws you have autogen textures too ; those have been reduced also.Tip : if you haev Ultimate Terrain you can use the Landclass file to make the environment more real.I am using it for my FSX.Also , if you have Ground Environment Pro, you can copy all gound textures over from Fs9 into FSX.Than the ground below will look just as with Fs9 and GEP.However the Fs9 textures are 256x256 in size, so less sharp. And then ask yourself : if I copy all textures from Fs9 to FSX wouldn't it be better to stay flying with F9 ? 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
October 15, 200619 yr The fix you qoute (with the batch files) reduces all the groundtextures except the photoreal ones. Using ground enviroment if at all possible would mean a further reduction in quality. Groundfix gives you 512 x 512 textures against FS2004's 256 x 256.
October 15, 200619 yr Thanks for that. I've got GE, not pro, but might upgrade. My problem with both of them is that I liuke elements from both. With GE and UT, from a certain alitude, FS9 looks much better, but lower down, closer to ground, FSX looks better to my eye.

It converts anything that looks like a ground texture in the ScneryWorldScenery folder. Are there ground textures somewhere else?Matt
