The 'wiffle/waffle' hand rubbing....P3D v5.0

Featured Replies

Been thinking about this some more...and yep I think the stock ground textures SUCK, but the nVidia Water 2.0 got me...so, I'll let y'all know how it shapes up, come Tuesday...

I figure...if I like my loaded up, v4.5...what wouldn't I like less, with TrueSky Clouds...and nVidia Water 2.0?   The way I see it...for the price of one Orbx T.E. region...I can't lose.

Done deal...call me Curious George....

As I understand P3D v5.0....the following water engine...IS within this new release, RIGHT. I certainly need to know this...before Tuesday!  Rob?   Does P3D v5.0 have FULL implementation of this water rendering engine, or is it only a stepped down version.  Please respond. You have the info for sure.  Here is the link, to what I am supposing I will be purchasing...:

There’s a video of a float plane landing on water circulating around here if that helps.

I'm afraid he'll be disappointed!

Although I believe there are 2 wakes behind the Cessna. One might be associates with the addon itself and the other P3D V5. But something is amiss there that needs fixin not a big deal!

From 4:41 there the waves braking look good. Its a shame the waves braking up onto beaches don't look like those. It would be far more realistic!

Also since LM have now, I guess, purchased a license too integrate an Nvidia technology into the sim can we expect a game ready driver for Prepar3D V5?

Wow....WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!   Disappointing?   SOLD!  SOLD!   When the plane lifted off the surface, it was PROP WASH that still enacted upon the water surface, OMG! ...Wow...was that ever real...have never seen that before in any sim..and you could see true chop enacted upon the airframe as the pontoons were skimming over the very minimal contact (at imminent lift)  the waves just before lift off....wow...SOLD!  Is it TUESDAY yet....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Thank you for posting that video, Ben...THAT was the 'sell me this' video I was looking for....and again----->Benjamin and Quasi,....SOLD on RTM Tuesday.   v4.5...what?  Huh?    H.S.!!!! 🙂

Dang....THIS is the video L.M should have put out....what the heck?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?   This is a Done Deal, here's my money video...this video shows how MUCH has changed between v4.5 and v5.0  What the heck?????   Were was this video hiding out at?  The water influenced by wind direction and wind speed driving the wave undulation/energy/height, and wave crests with foam fleck....OMG!  For real...wow....I don't think I will be out of an Amphib (my Kodiak Quest) for two months hence,....airports...will have to wait...take a number...

If I can load in Orbx PNW, Fjords of PNW , Alaska....well...slide food under the den door...

Ses, doing the Happy Tuesday Dance... AVSIM...for every posting I have made to date, over the last two days, concerning P3D v5.0, after seeing this one video...does NO LONGER hold my present opinions on P3D v5.0  No sir....they don't.

Cheers,  and yes Virginia....this is absolutely  NOT----> v4.6....no sir.....

I have no idea, but is there anything to stop a developer like REX or similar from utilizing the Waveworks technology in a 3rd party add on for 4.5?  The site says it's DX11 compatible.

Personally, I don't think so..for it is a complete water rendering engine, and not merely shader manipulations, or code tweaks.  The engine is rendering calculations...and then sending them to graphics...The nVidia WaveWorks engine would have to be installed in the core sim.  v4.5 will not have any capability to render as v5.0 will have, Native core code.   For myself...a true amphib guy...I can't wait...!

Post Edit...and even if a sim had this new nVidia WaveWorks 2.0 engine...it will still be the DX version that interprets the code and what is ultimately displayed. That would be the final visual difference between let's say a v4.5 WaveWorks native, to a v5.0 WaveWorks native...DX12's greater, and enhanced graphic display capability, would win out in visuals rendered over DX11 driven.

I meant, being fully not up to speed on the nVidia tech.., is the full 'deal' that nVidia shows on their WaveWorks 2.0 site, and all the capacity that it can render/handle, (not knowing so asking...) is that what L.M placed as the core water render engine, or did L.M. only write into v5.0, a smaller 'lite' version. because of cost, or manpower to write it in.  I just wanted to read from someone that would absolutely know, that what ever comprises the nVidia WaveWorks 2.0 platform...is indeed fully accounted for within v5.0 That's what I was asking about, Rob. So by your post, this is the full and capable nVidia WaveWorks Engine...and it depends what L.M taps into its rendering and computational abilities upon v5 RTM and future sub-5 releases.. Thanks...that what I read from you, and responding to my request.

Cheers,

Ses

From VFR flights of 2,800 to 3,500 you sure can! 🙂

You got that right...! I am just looking for performance and will wait to see what add-ons will work and obviously prices......But more or less strategy here is clear....By Wednesday AM will know....one way or another sitting home anyway....
