Navigraph subscription?

Recommended Posts

I suggest you first take a look at Avialsoft EFB. Not as detailed but a one time purchase instead of a subscription and it updates to you're sims scenery file so always in sync with you're sim. Worth a look before deciding.

I don't recall seeing a moving map on the EFB itself, do you mean on the ND?

It's on the ND in the 748.

It in the EFB for the NGXu.

I have the Navigraph Charts subscription and would have this to say about it.

1) It comes with the monthly AIRAC cycles which you need and can purchase separately.

2) If you fly in the US or Canada you can find all of the charts online (www.fltplan.com) for free.  Same charts.

3) If you fly in Europe again all charts available for free online, but more digging around may be needed to find them from each of the various country AIC's.

4) For places like the Carribean, Central America, South America, and I am sure others....you are basically out of luck on the internet.  You might find an old Jeppsen chart from 2005 but nothing up to date.  This is where Navigraph Charts really comes in handy.

5) From a convenience perspective, it is fantastic, you plan the flight on SimBrief, export the plan to Navigraph and to all of your aircraft and off you go.  So simple and easy.

So bottom line, its mainly a convenience and it does cover some charts that are not easy to find.  You have to figure out if that is enough value for you for the price of a very high end addon once per year.

Navigraph is one of those annual subscriptions that I renew every year without thinking about it.  Before Navigraph charts existed, i used to just buy the nav data sets a few times per year.  Once charts was released, the difference in price between an annual charts subscription and the charts/nav data combo was small enough that I subscribed to the whole thing.

I fly online. I find it indispensable, especially for figuring out complex STAR and transition combinations. The moving map is sometimes helpful but most of the Navigraph/Jeppesen ground charts don't support display of ownship position, which I find very irritating. The 10-9 chart for each airport does but that one normally doesn't include taxiway centrelines or stand numbers unless you're somewhere very small.

If I didn't fly online I probably wouldn't keep renewing the subscription every month.

Same here.  1.Navigraph for up to date charts worldwide -in one place.  2. ForeFlight on iPad - realworld tool / navigation / EFB / situational awareness w/ moving map ;  and 3. LittleNavMap - to see traffic, ships, and just great looking maps.

I'm genuinely surprised to see so many people not using Navigraph.

I honestly can't imagine flying without it. Have the charts and navdata subscription. I do fly online but even offline it's just so nice to have open on my second screen.
