C172 Landing - O'hare - Instagram Video

Lovely...but why are the threshold marking still wrong? Aren’t the 500 foot marking suppose to be 3 stripes not 2?

Haha I hear ya... and coming in with four whites. 😅 But indeed saved the touchdown somehow and hit the ground just right, unlike all those YT landings, of which 99% are way too long.

Ha, you know, actually you are right! Now that I look at the video again, they did a lot of things right for a 172. Brought it in high for a power off approach (check the RPMs). I can't see the all of the airspeed tape, but it looks like they held 60-ish over the fence. A little slow for a normal landing, but about right for a short field. Flare with very little float. Put in on the center line that that would be good enough for a commercial check ride. 👍

I must be getting old; It seems like I'm the only person who had a hard time telling this video apart from a real gopro recording.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

What do you mean "still"? Were there many others that are wrong? Internationally the markings differ quite a bit, but the US style seems to be three stripes at 500', that is correct. Also according to Google, Bing and Apple. Furthermore I wish they were able to do that material like it looks on the pictures, bright concrete, white markings with apparently black thin borders to increase their visibility. I'd still hope so much for way more runway varieties. And again, the skidmarks are just totally missing. That brand new paved runway look is just wrong for any airport of that size.
