Hoe To Get Started With AI Traffic?

Featured Replies

I would enjoy (I think) getting into AI traffic, as i see so many flight plans pre-written and available. Is there any source of a "package" or complete download that would get me started without too much pain? As you can tell, I am totally new at this. Thank you very much!

The answer is yes, but there are some drawbacks:
- MyTraffic 4.1: abandonware, fills your skies heavily and immediately, but the models and repaints hurt in the eyes.
- Ultimate Traffic (for FS9 and FS8): payware, models are rather dated (although look fine), schedules are set back to 2003-2005, no support available.

There are still WoAI and AIG, that are freeware, you may have the latest models, but it will take more time to setup. A lot more time, trust me.

Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (with SMT off and CO -50 mV), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX 5060Ti 16GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), ID-Cooling SE-224-XTS air cooler, Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120-144 Hz (G-sync compatible), Windows 11. Running P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 scenery objects as an additional library, just in case), FSX-SE, MSFS2020, MSFS2024 and even FS9! Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there .

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.

AIG-Alpha India Group is to me the best AI Traffic package available. And it's free! (you can donate, of course).

AIG is only for P3Dv4 and v5,so it won't work in FSX and definettly not in FS2004,

If you're talking about OCI, then yes. If combining AIG with AIFP, then no. Works perfectly fine for FS2004. Yes, it's a little more labor intensive, but my entire FS2004 setup uses AIG plans installed with AIFP. That's 400+ plans and god knows how many repaints.

WOAI is good, used that back in the day, but it is outdated plans and even models now.

Yes, my bad. I did mean OCI, but you're right AIG with AIFP will work with FSX, I have never tried it in FS2004, so can't say if it works there.

I'm sorry, did not notice the OP was talking about FS2004. AIG works well with FS2004, as previously mentioned, but works a lot better for P3Dv4 (and v5), because of OCI (One-Click-Installer, which makes things a lot simpler).

At this point in time, it would be better to consider moving you simulator to something newer, like P3Dv4 or v5, unless you're expecting to do the big move once FS2020 is released at some point in time.

I can confirm that AIG works for FS9, as long as your AI aircraft are made for this sim (almost always it's the case) and all the repaints are BMPs (ditto). I said that it will take time, but you'll find the process is very entertaining... almost addictive 😉
