Will my rig give good FPS?

Will these specs perform well on installed scenery (flytampa Orbx etc etc) and aircraft (PMDG, fslabs)?

Ik my processor is a bit old but do you guys think it will withstand the add-ons?

Appreciate it :)

you don't tell us for v4 or v5.  processor is a little slow. Have you tried overclocking?  BTW, I would completely shift your focus away from FPS.  What you are really chasing is smoothness.  So locking framerate to something like 30FPS or even just 30hz refresh rate then working with settings could get you what you need.  FPS is more important in other types of gaming not flying.

Oh sorry ahahah, P3Dv4.

Okay will take that on board thanks. Smooth is probably what I meant, can fly at 20fps but its a bit clunky. New to all this so really appreciate the info!

No I haven't tried overclocking the cpu. wouldnt happen to be able to point me in the right direction? Sorry all new to this.

Thanks

I would say it is time for an upgrade if your finances can handle it. Reality is that the old ivybridge stuff is well past its prime, especially with newer releases. 8 years was a good run...

That said, you may be able to tweak your way to acceptable performance with heavy addons, but that will just be a bandaid to the symptoms...

My second system is a 3770 overclocked to 4.7 with a 1080ti and it runs 4.5 beautifully. In MY case, I lock at 20 but it's super smooth. JUst try to tune your system to the LOWEST fps you can use and still have a smooth experience. See if your BIOS supports a Turbo mode and use that to start.

RTX 2070 Super Ventus OC

i7 9700F 8 core 4.7Ghz (btw this is currently £290 on amazon which seems a bit of a bargain if u ask me)

Im guessing this will cut it?

That will cut it just fine.....☺️

Hello i would also suggest (if you don't have a SSD) to buy a SSD for P3D and windows as it will help your simulator to load faster.

This is true. But remember that it will only help with the initial load time. Once the sim is running you will see no difference in performance between the SSD and the HDD. The question is whether the improvement in initial load times is worth the cost of the SSD..........Doug
