Deal me out --------

Well, I'm going to have to pass this round. I haven't been so let down since my big sis told me there was no Santy Clause! And that was 60 years ago!I have a very strong 22 month old Dell Gen 4 box and I know it won't handle FSX to my satisfaction. I'm no techie, and I'm not about to alter the config files time after time and have to re-install etc, etc. I'll wait till the fog lifts over Vista and DX10, and when all youse smart guys figure it out after that, I'll take another look. I'm willing to go one more super computer, but only if it's really going to do the job properly.I must say, however, that it is my opinion that this product was, in fact, shipped prematurely, without question. I do NOT blame Aces though. They don't control the budget or the business plan. Some corporate managing director or junior vice president said we're not waiting on Vista/DX10, ship it anyway. I'm not going to miss my department goals and deadlines and thus jeopardize my salary increases and bonuses! We'll play catch up later! And so, for the time being, deal me out! Going over to the FS9 forum to lurk.Scott

ScottI won't be as boorish as Bill. I empathize with you. I have a Dell 3.6 GHz HT. Not much use (if any) is made of that acronym - HT. Oh well.

Why did you need to say that? What kind of worthless sarcastic comment was that?! :-roll

Get used to it. Its the same guy quoted as calling ACES management a pack of "corporate wolves" :-lol

I totally agree. This kind of sarcasm is totally out of line. I issue warnings on my website forum for this type of juvenile behavior. After that, I show them the door.Bob (Las Cruces, NM)

Actually, I have a great deal of respect for Bill. He's one, of about a dozen folks, that I follow religiously in this forum. Seems like a real smart and knowledgeable guy. But there is such a thing as blind loyalty. I, sincerely, don't want anything to negatively impact the future development of FS, as, it seems that, at this point in my life, it IS my life (or so my wife thinks)! But fact is fact, and if the truth be known I'd be willing to bet that most of the Aces team would have preferred to have more time to co-ordinate FSX with Vista/DX10. It seems to me there was a fierce internal corporate struggle resulting in this debacle.Scott

I agree 100% dont let those FSX cheerleaders get to u.I have said this on other post they are here to make sure the hobby lives on regardless of people feelings and financial situation.I have a #### kicking rig I built a few weeks agon and it struggles so I removed FSX and I am enjoying my 1K worth of addons with FS9 so nothing lost or gained except my 69.00 for the FSX del.I too will ride this out until MS figures they have a bomb and what they need to do to remedy this package.Ther business models are aggressive at who's expense??Andy

ScottI know what you mean.FSX is way out into the future for mebut I will look again after my next hardware upgrade.Pete

Gents -Just prior to my retirement, 9 years ago, I attended a corporate meeting at which we had one of them there *motivational* speakers (on the easy day). He was a former CEO of Burger King; and he was a sharp, interesting and a most enjoyable speaker. I came away with a philosohy of his that I will never forget. In order to achieve happiness one needs to have 3 things:1. Something to LOVE2. Something to DO3. Something to HOPE FORWell, I have my family to LOVE, FS9 to DO, and I STILL have FSX to HOPE FOR! So, in retrospect, I couldn't be happier! (I think)Scott

I lurk more over at FS9 Forums than here, but you know what, as time goes on, I have been able to get a bit more out of FSX. Not content as I am with FS9 yet. I check back once a week, and is there is something new to try, hey why not. At this point, since there are relly no addons yet, if a reinstall is in order, no big deal I quess. In time I am pretty confident that FSX will be awsome. I wasn't saying that last week or before that, but thanks to everyone here for all the hard work and experimentation, it gets better slowly but surely. So for those readers that see this thread and say, I'm done with FSX and staying over at the FS9 forums, I will see you over there, but It really does pay to pop on over this side of the fence now and then. Lots of great stuff. Don't give up yet. Thanks everyone.
