Well Sparks, I am away from my home pc until next week, and I don't use any flightsims anymore but I'll forward the query to the aerowinx forum and I am sure someone will reply...

You will use them next week 😀

That ILS sidestep procedure is because it’s the only way to get it out of LOC & GS without pressing TOGA .

Its just for the APFD  system, nothing to do with the auto throttle which can be left engaged in SPD as you correctly thought.

the issue was/is that its wrong/the aircraft doesn't behave as described there.

You’re talking about the AT dropping off when the AP and FDs get turned off ? Sorry not quite understanding, but I’ll help if I can (remember)

that procedure says "re engage autothrottle"

but you cant, because it never told you to disengage it.

Ok I’m with you.

No you wouldn’t turn the AT off on that manoeuvre, just AP & FD, it looks like an error that’s made it into the manual which is fairly common and it  would have got spotted and amended at some point. It looks like an older manual your referencing there, current manuals don’t mention the AT.

  • 2 weeks later...

I did edit this Spitfire, made the tailwheel a free-castoring one, adjusted the radii of gyration, and have been test flying it ...

It's not the "perfect" rendition of a Spitfire, at least not as close to real numbers as the astounding Spitfire Mark IX for DCS World or IL-2, but fine tunning could probably bring it there...

Compared to the best alternative for MFS, the FlyingIron  Spitfire Mk IXc, it does way better what is described regarding the real thing, including performance and those well known ideosyncrasies... The Spitfire has a Character !!! and it shows in this freeware offer now also working fine in XP12.

Graphically the cockpit is rather simplistic, but that's really not my focus on a flight simulator... and it's FREEWARE !!!

Ground handling, as with many taildraggers in XP12, is still complex, and I'd say unrealistic, but could well be corrected using better parameters for the friction, gear damping, etc...

This kind of details make X-Plane, now XP12, so different from other experiences, no matter how other ingredients can try to trick our brains to see it differently 🙂
