July 18, 20205 yr Hello simmers; I'm running P3D V4 on a GTX 1050ti 4GB, an intel i5 6600k @3.5 Ghz and 8GB of RAM (Yes, I should upgrade it). I want to know if I will notice any improvement in performance if I upgrade to P3D V5. Thoughts?

July 18, 20205 yr I'm curious about your RAM Speed. p3d v5 wants 2666 mhz or better. https://www.prepar3d.com/system-requirements/ It works for me at 1666 mhz... 10700k / Gigabyte 3060

July 18, 20205 yr If you get it to work you should see a 10-20% fps improvement with similar settings, BUT (big but) your rig probably won't have the VRAM to run the same settings you may have had in P3D V4. For me the EA and increase in frames was worth it on an i7 rig with 6GB VRAM, but have to be very picky with settings. How willing are you to fiddle, walk the tightrope, risk a CTD on approach?
July 19, 20205 yr I sometimes have problems with 8GB RAM with V5 and that's why come Monday next I'm going to16GB. She's a hungry SOB at times. Edited July 19, 20205 yr by jfmitch word not allowed
July 19, 20205 yr I've been running P3d v5 with an 8Gb card. Unless settings are mid or lower, there are regular crashes. I just purchased a new Pc with an Intel 10900K processor, 11Gb 2080ti and 32Gb Ram. Also changed the monitor to a 2K with G-Sync. I can now run with high settings completely smooth and haven't had any crashes in a week. I am stunned how good it looks and how smooth it runs!
