August 3, 20205 yr Hey guys, I login to my windows using my work (office 365) account, infact all my systems are set that way. Just by doing that I get none of the garbage game apps that Windows 10 Pro users get when installing with normal Microsoft Account. 100% have issues with windows store. I did buy a preorder for premium using MS Account (but not o365 account) but store is logged in as o365 account. It has having a hard time connected to personal account. WTH MS!!!! So my gut says go with Steam. What do you all think? especially the beta testers In fall HP Reverb 2 will be out which I may buy? I guess with that headset Steam is the only option. I know, this is subjective, but the only thing I can tell you is the following: luckily we now have the Steam channel (this is unrelated to the VR option you mentioned). August 3, 20205 yr From what I can gather, the content manager in the game is part of the game and not the service you buy it from (i.e. it's not like Steam Workshop, where it's intimately tied to the delivery method). So theoretically, you can safely buy it from Steam and not have to worry about it not being user friendly down the line to load add-ons. Everything is done via your sign in when in the game, so with the Steam version, it should still simply load up your purchased add-ons or downloaded freeware directly from MS's marketplace regardless.
August 3, 20205 yr One big question for me is how VR will work with both the MS Store version and the Steam version. As far as I know, we haven't heard yet if the Steam version will also be integrated into the Steam VR framework, which would mean support for any Steam VR compatible HMD.
August 3, 20205 yr Author I am right now 100% extremely unpleased with the preorder. The whole MS store with dual accounts did not work as well as intended. MS should give me beta access to see this through and give feedback. My entire windows 10 pro installation uses O365 account to login; technically then the MS store logs in that way also. Even if I click on MS Store add personal account - no go. Thing hangs or works - just messy. Hint: when you do a clean windows 10 pro install and set it up with O365 account - you get no garbage app which come with windows 10 pro using local/ms personal account.
