Yes, obviously thousands of CD's were already produced and ready to ship out, so any minor or major issues or bugs will be addressed by future updates after August 18th...

I'm sure they will have a day one patch.

I'd be reeeeally cautious about using a no-CD (or DVD or whatever) patch, at least right away.  Johnny might be comin home to breakfast, along with the no-CD convenience.

So, the sim should be all pretty much finalised in less than week's time by my reckoning.

The term you're looking for is "Gold" which is what I suspect when it went to beta and between beta and release you have updates via the distro channels.

With my ISP speeds (10Mbps) I should be playing by sometime release weekend, likely on the 21st or 22nd, if I'm lucky by Friday night.  And no I'm not even joking!  😬

It will be interesting to see how borked the distro servers get on release, I hope they start the pre-release soon.

The first stable release candidate is 'silver'. The 'gold' is the master copy sent for duplication. These terms being from the colours of the CDs such things used to be on. But these days most things are digital downloads so that's not what I was referring to because those hard copy masters would have gone out weeks ago to Aerosoft. The first D/L equivalent terms (there are lots of them) are things such as 'stable release', 'production release', 'release candidate' etc.

But it's all semantics anyway, who cares? I just call it 'the finished thingy'. 🤣

Anyone old enough to remember the last minute release cancellation of FS2002  because they decided to remove the Twin Towers from the scenery?

I was so dissapointed after counting the days before i could go to the game store to buy the discs.

Totally not what I meant lol. I meant there will be a download from the official servers to patch the sim to its most updated version.

it could happen again, rumor is that some POI's are removed because they are copyrighted.
