August 12, 20205 yr Have been following the various posts regarding DL's from the Microsoft Store. Completed (I think) the download allowing it to install onto the C drive and then followed Bert's instructions regarding moving it to a dedicated SSD via the app function which it appears to have done, and also seems to have created the two folders containing the sub folders: AC, AppData, LocalCache, LocalState, RoamingState, Settings, Staging and TempState. I didn't however, see anywhere in the C drive where an MFS Folder was created before moving it to the SSD, would this be contained in the hidden WindowsApp folder that so many people have commented on? Or is it possible that the DL didn't complete properly and didn't add the MFS folder to the C drive? The DL once moved to the SSD is only 1.03GB in size which is also causing me to question whether or not the DL was successful. Any advice or input is much appreciated Thanks
August 12, 20205 yr I am guessing here that you will go to either the MIcrosoft store and check for updates...it will then download the software or you can open the app in start and press play and I would guess it will download it and then run once complete. Mark CYYZ
August 12, 20205 yr Author Hey Mark I've tried what you've suggested but I get the: 'You're too early" message window.
August 12, 20205 yr You open the game on the 18th, the launcher will download the game. That's it. There is no pre-load. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.
August 12, 20205 yr Author No, I understand that there's no actual pre-load available at this point, but I was questioning whether or not the DL should have created some kind of MFS folder in the C drive even after it was moved to the SSD, and if a 1.03GB DL (version 1.7.11.0) was the correct size for the pre order.

Yes 1.03G is about the right size for 1.7.11. There is no MSFS "folder: per se - Look for the WindowsApps folder on C or whatever drive you moved MSFS to. The Main MSFS folder will be in there. IIRC WindowsApps is a hidden folder so you'll have to make it visible and possibly take ownership of it to look at it. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
August 12, 20205 yr Author Thanks Vic, I managed to take control and access the WindowsApps folder on the SSD, but I still don't see a dedicated MSFS folder contained within it. There are four (4) folders titled: Deleted Microsoft.DigitalOwnership_1.01.0x64 Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.7.11.0x64 MSIXVC Maybe there's no reason to be concerned and this is how it should be, but I've never had to deal with DL's from the MS Store before and want to try and avoid any issues once it's released. (Insert laughter here)

And then you will be given the option of where to download the Main contents of the simulator. All 90+gigs of it. what people are doing now is just moving the launcher app. Unless you really are short on space, I’d leave it. Might cause update issues down the road. August 12, 20205 yr Author Sorry Vic, I guess the folder Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.7.11.0x64 is the actual MSFS folder. It's 1.0GB in size and contains 2155 files and 333 folders. I was assuming that it would be a dedicated folder titled 'MSFS' Somebody had posted that creating a MSFS folder within the SSD was recommended, think that's where my confusion about it is coming from.
August 12, 20205 yr Author Got it, thanks Rick That's exactly what I'm doing, just moving the app launcher over to the SSD. I'm not really low on HDD space at all, the SSD is being dedicated to MSF and just wanted to get things lined up. I realize that any updates will have to be pointed to the SSD if they default back to the the C drive, as I think happened to Bert on the latest update, but I've set any DL's from the MS Store to go directly to the SSD through the W10 app as he suggested, so hopefully that won't create any problems.
