August 19, 20205 yr Hi all I'm stuck with 4k unless I replace my monitor, luckily I can run ultra on 4k just but it's not ideal. I tried to drop down to 1080p but it looks aweful, very pixelated even on maximum settings. Not sure if the Sim does a very poor job downsizing or it's the monitor, don't think it's the monitor as it looks stunning at 4k Wayne such Asus Hero Z690, Gigabyte Aorus Master 5080, I914900K, Kraken 360 AIO CPU Cooled, 96 GIGS Corsair DDR5, 32 Inch 4K by 3
August 19, 20205 yr You can maybe try 2560x1440.. It looks pretty good for me, with a GTX 1070 (30 - 35 fps) Intel i9 - GPU RTX 3080 - 32 gig RAM HyperX Fury DDR 4
August 19, 20205 yr What card are you running? A 1080ti and below will struggle some unless you back down the settings. My 1080ti on 4K is working hard but it’s smooth. My CPU hovers around 30% while my GPU hovers between 75-99%. August 19, 20205 yr A 4K monitor looks worse at 1080p than a 1080p monitor does at the same resolution because of the difference in sharpness: it's an optical effect not unlike how an old SNES game looks really blocky on a 1080p screen but somehow reasonable on an old CRT of considerably worse resolution. It isn't related to any downsampling quality of the software: MSFS is not involved in that at all, a 1080p signal goes to your monitor directly and the monitor handles the pixel placement. My advice would be to keep the sim res at your native 4K but drop the render scaling option down instead. That will likely look better than the monitor at 1080.

Hi I'm on a 1080 ti,I am getting 30 fps and very smooth so far,my CPU is also around 30 % not sure about GPU as spent to much time trying to get my keyboard working in the Sim, I have to crash to get back to the menu lol, have another shot at troubleshooting it tonight, what kind of frames are you getting Wayne such Asus Hero Z690, Gigabyte Aorus Master 5080, I914900K, Kraken 360 AIO CPU Cooled, 96 GIGS Corsair DDR5, 32 Inch 4K by 3

I use High setting and the Framerate limiter I left at 60 because my monitor is at 30hz. I pretty much maintain 30 FPS except at extreme locations. Make sure TAA is selected for anti aliasing. The game will render at 70% lower resolution and then upscale to your native resolution. Should look better than just reducing resolution.
