Dear Microsoft Flight Simulator Team

Dear Microsoft Flight Simulator Team;I recently tried to over clock my CPU after installing FSX. I purchased FSX and installed it on my computer, and then I upgraded my motherboard and CPU to a Core 2 Duo e6600, all in the name of making FSX run faster. I had to install everything over again, that counted as my second install of FSX. Everything was fine until I decided to over clock my CPU from 2.4

I agree. Good post. The solution is worse than the disease. One thing I have noticed in the field of IT. This is a general observation. Not directed to MS per se. Its a cop out when business seek technical solutions for business problems. This has become epidemic in other areas of normal business. Instead of putting their heads together to solve a business problem..they abdicate it to the It Guys....who would promptly look for a technicak solution. These are the guys who are walking around with a hammer looking for a problem to solve..... and any problem you give them....they would try to solve by using that hammer. One of the common problems we have is the "Login/Password" thingi ...all over. The worst problem is the ones where they expect you to change your pwd every 30 days or so...and then tell you that the last digit has to end with an alphabet that there should atleast be 1 uppercase and 1 digit to it. Which would pretty much kill the pattern you may have to remember these things. And then on top of that... they would force you to change it every 30 days and you can't reuse the last 10 pwds... and if you enter it wrong it would lock you out without a tel # for you to call. and even if you do.. it would be automated asking you to enter another passcode to get through. All this ofcourse would be for logging into so some test system that you might not even care if anyone breaks in. So I currently maintain all my passwords (except my Bank) on a notepad and sometimes I print them out and keep it with my laptop. I also sent a prompt e-mail to my superiors saying. I have stuck it on my laptop defeating their brainy ideas. Cause thats the only way I can keep my sanity. Never heard back from them. :)Just musing.Manny

Just download the FSX crack that was available the day that it was released. I know that's what I will be doing when I buy my copy if it starts doing this nonsense to me. I guess the game sees the overclocking of the CPU as an entirely new cpu instead of looking at the cpu's hardware identifier like it should be. Another example of this thing not working like the devs say it it is supposed to. Pretty sad when legal purchasers of the game have to resort to downloading hacked executables just to be able to play the game that they legally purchased. Better take heed Microsoft, and quickly.Dave

I think 'technicak' sums up the entire fsx debacle very well. Oh and i totally agree with you on the changing passwords comments. As to the op, i totally sympathize with you, ms has gone activation crazy. I darent install my copy any where else as i've already tried it twice (vista and xp) I could also try it on an nvidia machine and a pentium to see if the old limping dog manages a trot somewhere but if and when i upgrade (again) i want to keep a few activations in hand (if i have any left).Yes i have four reasonably up to date machines that i could use to see if i can hit a decent frame rate (above 10) on and i bet everyone of them is a much higher spec than the machines some guys on here claim to achieve smooth 25fps at full details, yeah right, did you know that as well as birds (none in the uk though) pigs also fly in the world of fsx.

I really appreciate your post because you've conveyed, in a very eloquent way, the same thoughts I've had about this subject. It should be obvious to all that MS is tightening the screws a little more on the honest consumer with every day that passes. In the meantime, the "Pirates", of which I am decidedly not one, continue to thrive and bypass all of these supposed anti piracy measures that MS is imposing. However it appears that very few people are willing to think for themselves in these matters. I think the term "Sheeples" best describes them. Just meander along and follow the herd wherever it my go-even if its off a cliff to nowhere. Its much easier not to have to think for yourself or question anything. These same people probably would have objected to the ideas our nations founding fathers had. I'm sure they would have told them to just shut up and go along with the establishment--"Don't Make Waves."Don't be surprised if you don't get many responses to your post. I've tried to share similar thoughts before and felt that I might as well talk to my cat about these things. As a word of encouragement more and more people I know are exploring other computer program alternatives because of MS's ever increasing invasive practices. Linux has come along way. X-Plane works with Linux etc. flykingVirtual AviatorSystem Specs:XP PRO SP2AMD Athlon 64 2413MHzNVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT, 256MBMemory: 2048MBSB Audigy 2 ZS Audio

O/T .... are there birds flying in the FSX UK? .. or is it just America?

I might behoove a person to take notes on the progression of this post lest it should disappear or be locked for some inexplicable reason. flykingVirtual AviatorSystem Specs:XP PRO SP2AMD Athlon 64 2413MHzNVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT, 256MBMemory: 2048MBSB Audigy 2 ZS Audio

I would not feel guilty calling MS and telling them you need to re-activate (no matter how many times you need to do it). I would also not feel guilty complaining to them the entire time that I am on the phone. I would talk to the supervisor of the person that helps you and complain to them also. I would also download and use the hack until I had enough time to do the above.I have already created a batch file that I run. It's called fixfsx and I either do:fixfsx hackorfixfsx nohackLet's me run it either way. I currently am able to run activated and legal. Of the 11 days that I have owned FSX I believe I have been activated and legal about 3. After fixing mine and activating I broke it again while trying to fix the things that broke with the fix to the activation. There is no excuse for legit paying customers to have to go through this. I consider it guaranteed that I will continue to go through this as long as I use FSX. I hope that some sanity will set in and a patch will be released eliminating the activation process. I can dream can't I?Bruce

My new system is in for repair as we speak, so I'm going to be in the same boat, as I think they will have to replace the MB. I understand MS's need to control piracy, but I agree this activation system is too cumbersome as is. I think a good many of these issues could be resolved with a deactivation mechanism. It could be setup during the uninstall utility. If you know you are moving to a new system, upon full uninstall of your existing copy, the uninstall utility, can signal the activation servers, that your copy is no longer active, releasing it to be used on the new system. This ensures, you can't use it on more than 1 system, and at the same time, makes the reinstall transparent to the user. This would also save MS Time/Money since there wouldn't be as many reactivation service calls. Of course if the reinstall is due to a system failure where you couldn't complete an uninstall first, the existing procedure would have to b used!

Thanks

Tom

Hey I have the Error #1722 problem..I'm considering reinstalling WinXP like you did because Microsoft hasn't come up with anything, let alone a KB article, for the past 2 weeks that i've had the game.Did you do a complete format of your hard drive and install XP? or did you just install your copy over your current using the "repair" or "upgrade" function?

Registration is working. Repeat after me:FS-X is not cracked!FS-X is not cracked!FS-X is....Well someone has to believe it... :-)

>Registration is working. Repeat after me:>FS-X is not cracked!>FS-X is not cracked!>FS-X is....>>Well someone has to believe it... :-)Argh!!! - but it was - well before the release date - its only the honest people that are having problems
